Three days and i was able to complete the DYI install of this wrap. Made some mistakes along the way but very happy with the end result ?

Windows tinted with XPEL Prime XR Plus at Alta Mere in Plano TX. 70% on windshield and rood. 30% on sides.

Thanks to @PurePPF for a great product and @T Sportline for great customer service!

Looks great. How was Alta Mere on pricing? Have a quote in McKinney that seems a bit high for 70% windshield and 15% on windows.

Looks really REALLY good. Would you mind sharing exact name of PPF and how you ordered it. I suspect through Tsportline.

Some questions:
  • Did you remove any trim to put the PPF on? And if so, what trim?
  • Did you order it pre-cut or by the role and cut it yourself?
  • If you ordered it pre-cut did you order it with wrap-around edging? and if so what degree of difficulty did that add to the job?
  • If you got it pre-cut and screwed up a panel did TSportline allow you to buy just the screwed up panel?
  • Did you do it in your garage or outside?
  • Did you prep the surface before applying the PPF? Claybar?
  • How helpful were the TSportline videos to your DIY job.
It really looks GREAT. Congrats

I shopped five vendors and found pricing to be fairly similar. Alta Mere came in south of $2,000 on all seven window panes with the top tier tint.

  • I ordered the kit from T Sportline with rolled edges. The film is Pure PPF - Platinum metallic color. It came precut with all the materials and the specialty tools you need to install a wrap.
  • Both T-Sportline and TeslaBros have videos on how to do the install, although the wrapped edges is not covered in detail for all panels. Getting adequate amount of material for the wrap around is key to solid adhesion on the edges. Some edges were not easy to get to (front edge of front doors, lower part of tailgate) and required some finessing. Take your time and think though how you will do it is key.
  • I removed the fenders, mirrors, the "grill" (front panel) and the lightbar to get better access to the edges.
  • I did all the work in my garage, as avoidance of dust is critical. A little spec of dust or a stain of hair will show on the film.
  • I prepped as follows: rinse, soap wash, rinse, clay bar w/supplied slip solution, alcohol to remove remaining stains.
  • Sprayed each panel with slip solution and squeegeed it off right before adding the film to ensure no dust had settled.
  • T Sportline provided me with support throughout the effort and answered questions I had over the weekend. They are committed to helping you succeed. I did not screw up any panels to the point of a do-over, but i am confident they would work with you should that need arise.

Happy to answer any questions you may have should you head down this path - it's doable and quite rewarding imho

Just wanted to add that the embossed look on the Foundation Series badging was a breeze. The decals came on transfer paper and made the alignment easy. Used heat gun to soften the wrap and get all the details to pop.

I got my tint done here, amazing family owned business, very honest guy, showed me around his shop ... different wraps ... charged genuine not high prices just because its a CT.
SYK Rides Window Tint in celina TX (I paid 140 plus tax front 2 windows & 2 A pillar triangles), LLUMAR Ceramic with Life time warranty certificate. He said he will not do Windshield due to size and danger of cracking the windshield due to heat no matter how much I paid him.

I am in McKinney and if you still want your windshield done, New Image Autosports near the cemetery off Highway 5 will do it for reasonable price.

Hope to see you and your truck on a meet up in the DFW area soon! The black looks great ?

I was also concerned about the heat dissipation on the windshield but the technician at Alta Mere did not think it would be a problem since they have tinted numerous tesla roofs without any issue. I guess time will tell if this will be a problem or not. The temperature difference after the tint was installed has been quite remarkable. Much less heat in the cabin, and I with that, less energy use on AC ?

VERY nice wrap and color. I see your great responses but don’t see “mistakes along the way”. Top three mistakes?

I unfortunately had the opposite experience. After many hours cleaning and polishing, I tried the diy tesbros avery Dennison metallic gloss black.
it was nearly impossible to make look decent. After 5th panel and 7 hours I scrapped the idea. Wasn’t worth my time or frustration despite the excellent videos to follow…
