It just occurred to me when reading your comment that the reason Elon said they need the 8K/9K ton gigapress is for the loads it has to carry. But that doesn't mean they couldn't make 'a' rear casting with the 6K ton gigapress that just couldn't handle the larger loads, right? I wonder if the die would have to be remade when they get the larger press. Anyway, an interesting idea...
They could make the bed in two cast parts on the 6k and bolt it together.
The mold will unlikely be compatible between the 9k and 6k.

I always want good news. And yes, if they shipped it the day they made that video and it took a month to get to Houston (though I am seeing shipping times much higher on that website you shared the link for), then it would arrive in a couple of weeks. I suspect that the shipment you shared with us is indeed (at least part of) the 9K ton gigapress. I wanted to find the rest of it and of course find out where the shipments are. If in customs it is likely they would hold for the entire shipment.
They made the video long before it arrived in Texas. They didn't release the video until it got to the US.

I very very much agree. Next video is it built in Austin.

Like maybe with 6K ton gigapress rear casting they could make a short-bed (4.5") Cybertruck or Cyber-minivan??
I meant as a beta not as a production. The liklihood of a first-generation CT being anything like that is probably vanishingly small.

Remember when all those large boxes in August showed up at austin. Are we 100% sure that they are getting only 1 9k ton gigapress? The 2 bodies suggest 2 assembly lines are being set up. How do we know that the press is not already installed?
They might be doing the robotaxi as a single cast and that would require a big press also

Have they ever released a video from a Tesla location?

You should be addressing your comment to @greggertruck since he was the one talking about the ‘next’ video. I only commented on the timing.

I wouldn’t read too much into Musk’s comment on the beta truck here. They could have a CNC milled rear end to use for the rear end. Even if it shows up tomorrow, it’s unlikely the GP will be assembled in time to have a beta truck for Musk in a few weeks. Either the press got sneaked in, or they are making that beta without the press.
I think when Musk said he would be driving a beta in a few weeks it was in relation to how the Austin production line was comming along. So I do think he meant a Cybertruck produced using giga-castings. But the "few weeks" comment is rather vague - it could be he was thinking 8 or 10 weeks which could of course slip to 16 or 20 weeks which would put his beta Cybertruck in March. Personally, I bet he's driving a beta with gigacastings by January.

Or, maybe it will be in time for him to consider it a Christmas present from the Cybertruck production team. Chances are, the comment was made to light a fire under the team.

He didn’t say he would be driving a beta n a few weeks. It was Zach, the CFO. I almost think that’s maybe better in some weird way.

They were talking about status of the production line.

A lot of things are very indeterminate or unknown. When FSD is ready for example.

They should have a very good handle on how close the assembly line is to cranking out bets trucks.

Do you think they will do 2 lines straight away, or one after the other once the dial the first one in?

And do you really think they will announce the robotaxi/M2 after they have a production line set up? Wouldn't they want to guage interest first? Although I suppose if its a $20-25k model you'd expect them to fly off the line anyway.

I've been thinking how they would go about making a $25k EV. Maybe instead of doing a front and rear cast they do a left and right cast, but with pack and cabin included. I think the 9kt will do around 250kg a cast, which is not quite enough for single cast, but two pieces will work.

Basically it would include front and rear fenders (maybe front fender needs to removable for crash absorbtion). Then just throw in some seats, dash, cooling, bat and motor (fwd I think), slap on some doors, structual glass and wheels and roll out the door to the customer. Line would be super short, put "mini gigas" everywhere to avoid freight.
