Elon has said a million times there is no quantifiable gain by adding any solar to vehicles. It would accumulate less than 3 miles range on a fully sunny day and is not adequate for vehicle charging. Let. it. Go.
This is not completely true. That was in regard to cars like the Model 3.

'Now for the new Tesla Cybertruck, the CEO said on Twitter today that it will actually be an option:'

“Will be an option to add solar power that generates 15 miles per day, possibly more. Would love this to be self-powered. Adding fold out solar wings would generate 30 to 40 miles per day. Average miles per day in US is 30.”
Get. Your. Facts. Right.

if they’re crashing, that press is live and that’s a truly production vehicle.

This is the actual content of the video.

That said, the crash testing itself could in theory yield results that loop the vehicle back to further development.

But that should be a chance near zero, since before these physical crash tests Tesla would have done so much computer-based modeling that the physical are perfunctory for regulatory compliance.

Big takeaway is that for all relevant intents and purposes, this is the production CT (as seen with certain OEM options, such as wheels/tires, irrelevant to crash test regulations).

And they say Tesla has no PR team… brilliant stuff

How stupid...Nothing happens; I'd hardly call it a crash test as it never crashes. Waste of time.
fascinating that people don’t understand the video content

the truck is not stopping before it crashes.

It is a high speed video that slows the video speed before the crash

the well known (by many) meme is that tesla are ending the video before you get to see the crash

see @ 0.19 of following video for the high speed camera roll

Pretty sure that's a freaking Bungie cord .. hopefully that won't make it to final production ?

The bottom will be covered with whatever that protective layer is (composite material??) which will probably replace the need for whatever the bungie did.

Or at the very least it’ll hide the bungie cord so we don’t have to look at it.

Internet April Fools jokes are classically a shit show of bad jokes, bad taste, and tone deaf humor. In my book this is a home run.

Yes it’s a frustrating tease, in that you don’t get to see it crash. But you do get to see some of the best photos of parts of the truck we just haven’t seen yet or better angles on bits we have seen.

Love this.

Well, there goes that admittedly quite small hope the rear section of roof glass may have been solar…

There is a second video out (see other thread) with the Cybertruck driving around the Fremont test track and the rear window looks a lot different. It actually looks spot on like a solar panel. Truck drives around, lots of different angles, and not a bit of light leaks through.

So I wouldn’t put it entirely to rest.
