Tesla's presentation to City of Austin is quite revealing in regard to their proposal and “requests.”

Highlights:
  • The deal includes 20 years of tax rebates: the first 10 years with a 80% discount and the next 10 years at a 65% discount.
  • Tesla is promising 5,000 direct jobs and 4,000 indirect jobs with an average annual income of over $47,000.

Here is the full proposal submitted by Tesla.

5,000 jobs at $50,000 per year, works out to $250,000,000. Yep, that could be helpful for a local economy. Let alone all of us buyers wanting to go there, to get our vehicles and vacation.

I would appreciate knowing what Tulsa offered.

Generally I am no fan of corporate welfare. However, if I’m brining in a bunch of jobs to your area and you fall over yourself to offer it to me then I would be stupid to refuse it.

If the gig/terra factory is in Austin I will be able to pick it up at the factory when my order is done. It’s only 45 minutes from me.
I plan on doing the same thing, i would love to tour the factory, pick up my CT and then hit up downtown Austin for some good times and even better food!

It is not 5000 jobs day one. It will be multiple years before they ramp up to that many jobs.

I would love to know why Tesla chose the south Austin location over the Williamson county location. There is a large political and cultural shift thirty miles north. I think Williamson county would of really embraced and welcomed the Tesla Facility.

I tend to agree with you, so for refrence I Googled Fremont and came across this article. Tesla says they employ over 10,000 at Fremont. Wow, I was surprised. Interesting tidbit, my dad was in charge of the Sheet Metal workers building the paint booths there, in the 90's.
