Disagree. I priced out a similar Ford F150L at just under $80k. Not any different from the dual motor Cybertruck. And for those who qualify for federal and state tax credits, the price can decrease by $10k+ ($67,500 for tax rebate eligible Colorado buyers). Compare this to $63k for a 2024 Tundra (Limited, minimal options). Add in fuel and petrolum-based maintenance items and the cost is similar, if not higher.

If you want a truck, you gotta pay to play.
You aren’t reading my posts. The real pain is depreciation/ the life of the vehicle. Also - your sub 80k ct is a theory at this point. Might be a severely neutered version - street tires, no floor mats, low range, etc. but even that one won’t age well.

like I said - still a lot of fun for wealthy folks.

Show me on of those p100d ludicrous models s’s that retailed for $130k. Oh - wait, my wife drives one. Bought used with 30k miles for $50k dollars. Don’t buy a Tesla to save money.
I bought a M3 4 years ago and it has saved me a boatload of money. If you don't see the vision of this truck by now, then I honestly don't know why are you spending so much time on the enthusiast forum for it lmao

I’m buying the thing / don’t mnd wasting some money on it. Just helping folks out of their delusions that this thing makes any financial sense.

I own a model 3 too - bought with 54k miles for $21k. Down about $15k from a year ago.

The difference? Diesel trucks go a million miles, these will plummet in value at 100k
The Cybertruck warranty covers 150,000 miles.

Diesels can reach 300,000 or more, but must be well-maintained to do so.

Teslas have held their value very well. If someone buys one at a significantly cheaper price, they got a good deal. Even now in a declining economy, Teslas are still selling for good money.

But even looking past that. I'm hoping most people here are buying a vehicle to keep. This truck looks awesome, it won't be easy to accidentally damage through means that wouldn't be immediately an insurance call, the motors/batteries can be replaced in the future, the computer hardware can be upgraded just like in other Teslas.

And if we look at the life of a vehicle. I think that with less moving parts, and less things to change overall, your truck can last as long as you want.

The guy with the most miles on a Tesla is over 1,900,000 kilometers on his model S. He has obviously replaced some parts but still going. The motors are supposed to last around 500,000 miles. which is decades at the average miles per year. Even the warranty is 8 years.

I would much rather have to do motor/battery changes than engine/transmission.

I'm also unsure of how long the average Tesla will last with the average driver. Because I don't know of any Teslas that have just reached the end of their life. Other than crashes, cars usually are junked when the cost to repair them exceeds their value when repaired. Even now when I check for 2013 Model S, they are still listed as 20-25k. Which could have just been for people that want the original, but then I checked for 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and they increase in price with low mileage cars wanting 40k+.

Whether that's easy to sell or not is not something I speculate on, but I would think there wouldn't be tons of them listed at those prices if there wasn't anyone interested.

But if you are just worried about the resale value after a few years...maybe leasing would be a better option.

But I see no evidence from electric vehicles that would suggest that the life of a Cybertruck or the depreciation of a Cybertruck would be worse than any ICE truck.

Via Cybertruck parts catalog: https://epc.tesla.com/en-US/catalogs/2816.

Some parts pricing:

Windshield wiper blade: $75
Windshield wiper arm & blade: $165
Windshield glass: $1900
Expect a software update that teaches the BAW how to swat away incoming threats, such as rocks headed for the windshield, confused birds, ladders that fell off the construction trucks on the freeway, both grapefruit and golf ball sized hail; and any other threats detected and confirmed by the Cybertruck's Area Awareness System's Active Defense and Countermeasures.

Not that these pose any actual threat to the armored glass, of course. It would be entertaining to see them getting swatted, though. And driving shouldn't be boring.

Surprisingly, Tesla sell tires lower price then other tire places. $470 per tire vs $493

which is an example why I need someone to assure me these prices we’re seeing are retail to customer

does anyone have like (a) the analogous document for a MY windshield, and(b) the itemized receipt for a MY windshield replacement?

Sadly within reason for new model year.
I recall when I bought my 2014 GMC 1500, you could buy the wiper from a dealership and it was $45 a piece.

The parts catalog is technically for repair shops, but due to Teslas slightly positive outlook in 'right to repair' you could likely sign up for it if you don't mind doing a bit of paperwork for the process.

Sweet A/T tires will only be $1880 extra not 4k like I feared woohoo! (I now estimate everything Tesla by multiplying what I think it will be by 2 so that I no-longer get my hopes up)
