So the Cybertruck is on order and I reached out to support but got no answer. Any ideas of you can install / wire in emergency lights? I would assume so since they are working on a light bar but no real mention of it.

There's another thread about emergency lights. There's connections on the roof and in the frunk, but these are 48V connections and will require step-down converters which are readily available on Amazon.

On Amazon:
Victron Energy Orion-Tr IP43 24/12-Volt 30 amp 360-Watt Isolated DC-DC Converter

And this to control it.
QOFOWIN Wireless Remote Switch, with 984FT Long Range,DC12V/24V/48V/72V RF Remote

It's also not clear if the connections on the roof are enabled if you don't have tesla install the offroad light bar. Even if you hook up to those wires, the button on the touchscreen may not exist without them pushing different software to your truck

And where precisely are you going to find the 48 volt lights? Better not mess with Mother Nature.

How about 4 sets of 12v lights in series?
Do you know that Teslas do not have fuses? The circuits are monitored for amperage and are turned off if the current draw is over what is programmed. What circuit are you going to choose for your string of 12 volt bulbs?

If you want to run 12v lights on a 48v system, you can use a 48v to12v DC converter. Amazon has many as they are used on golf carts. You need to match the amp draw of the lights to the converter. Most LED off road lights list watts. But this is not related to amp draw it is instead a marketing number to show how much light is produced compared to an incandescent light. Use an amp meter to measure the amp draw or use the fuse rating supplied with the lights.

So these converters are roughly 7” x 5” x 3” in the 48v version. Where are people planning on mounting them for a clean install? In the frunk and then a teardown to run wire everywhere for exterior lights? Where would the wires come out for that without awkward exterior wire runs, or can they be easily hid behind the edges of the panels? For exterior lights and interior / exterior options like a radar detector with exterior sensors, or a subwoofer amp inside, how many of these would you need? Trying to picture how this install would work without some rather inconvenient wire runs. Maybe I’m getting this wrong? But if you want to mount some lights in the front and back and a radar detector and interior / stereo parts you either would have to have a bank of them in the frunk and a lot of wiring elsewhere or mount several of them in somehow hidden places (where?) to do shorter wire runs to the 12v components around the vehicle. Either way, this may be challenging to keep clean but I haven’t been inside the truck to look around for what the options for installers might really be.

Maybe others here on the forum have more experience with this and to them it is obvious how that would work but to me it isn’t, which is why I am asking.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Cheers

Mount all the controls in the Frunk and hide all wires under the CT. Double sided tape Ty rap mounts. No drilling. But let’s see how others run the wires.
it’s going to be a while before I see my CT. Maybe two yrs.

The ones on the roof do work.

Just wondering if you are hypothesizing this or have actually done it?

As in have you actually dropped all the panels under the truck to run the wire?
