Can someone please explain to me why so many of the fasteners on cybertruck are in metric sizes instead of American standard sizes?
that don't make sense if it's made in America why use metric.

I’m gonna guess that the answer is because they’re engineers.

Note: I’m not trying to be flip with you here. I just think it’s pretty universally known that if you’re talking about a first principles company they’re not gonna be goofing around with converting things from imperial to the real language of math everywhere else in the world.

Tesla is a global company. In 2024, most Tesla vehicles (over 60%) were made in either China or Germany. I would guess that Tesla has standardized on metric for its entire vehicle line, including the Cybertruck.

It's true that the Cybertruck is only made in the US, but it's also true that the Cybertruck is only a very small part (like 2.5%) of Tesla's total vehicle production.

25% of the CT comes from Mexico and 10% from outside of NA and yes, Tesla is an international company. Both of those combined probably explain it.

So they can sell you a good size kit, that you will “never” use 90% of ever!

Polaris Industries (maker of Victory and Indian motorcycles) uses Metric, John Deere since 1990's uses metric. Metric is easier and better. I think even most US automakers use metric now.

As someone who wrenches my own motorcycles and tractors (and occasionally cars), I'll take metric all day long.
