I want to mount a fire extinguisher in the bed, and decided to use a quick detach mount like this :

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DB1XX27K?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

I was then looking at different bolt-style accessories for L-Track for light duty applications and didn't find anything I liked, so I sketched up this part that can be screwed into with the screws similar to those found on PC fans. The hole is currently 5mm, but I can make changes to that easily if anyone needs a different variant, including with a recessed hex pocket for a metal nut.

As for the fire extinguisher mount above, the holes unfortunately don't line up to the L-track spacing. Will need to make an adapter plate.

Here are some pics from the actual fitment test... At the second glance it looks like if I offset the hole slightly within the part, it should line up with the mount I want to attach. I will post the modified version later as well.

Here is the offset version. The hole is shifted by 5.2mm to give 142mm needed for the extinguisher mount. Also the hole is a bit smaller to clear an M4 screw and has a pocket on the back for M4 nut (7mm sides). Figured there is just not enough meat there for a large self-tapping screw, hence the change.

I don't quite like the offset version as that nut pocket compromises the strength significantly. I will redo it for use with a heat set insert.

Funny, I was just looking for something like this. I’m also making a bunch of custom mounts for my truck, however I was planning to start from commonly-available L-track lugs (about $4/ea on Amazon) and going from there. My concern with 3D printing this part is that it puts tension on the Z axis.

In case you're interested, I started with designing mounts for MOLLE panels, and I'm pondering some L-track attachments now. I've finished mounts for a Hi-Lift jack and for MaxTrax boards, both intended for a horizontal MOLLE shelf that goes over the spare tire. My next task was making a L-track to quickfist hanger. I'm happy to collaborate if you like!

I don't understand what you mean. The part prints flat, and is only 7mm thick.

These are great, and I'll definitely be printing these for some, lighter use things. But if you need some stronger ones, I ordered these off of amazon and they work great. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C6QVWHZ6

Yes, those are the studs I referenced earlier. I just generally didn't like the "reverse" setup for some applications, I would rather screw "into" the track when mounting some things. I'm actually thinking about throwing this design on the CNC mill for making them out of metal for medium (aluminum) and heavy (steel) duty applications.

That is something you could definitely sell on here.

I extended the business end a bit for the previous version to give it more strength, I think it should work for now. Previous geometry was circular as an optimization for the idea to make that part on a manual lathe (with a follow up on a manual mill), but for CNC (including 3D printing) that isn't really necessary. Technically it is possible to make the part sufficiently extended to place multiple holes on it at different offsets to allow for attaching things that are pre-drilled either for metric or imperial dimensions.
