What's reasonable care? Are you a Toyota dealer in a quiet town with no enemies? Then they likely took reasonable care.

Are you a highly targeted company with a rash of recent arsons, vandalisms, and gunfire at your properties? I would question if their measures rose to the level of "reasonable care" for the climate they're in. Nevada law requires measures a "prudent business" would take to protect property, there's a case to be made that knowing the elevated threat level, they didn't provide that level of protection. I would totally hire you to make that case for me.

But, I'm willing to bet Tesla will get insurance to cover, or give out of pocket "good will" replacements for all the vehicles involved. Last thing they need is a bunch of customers going public saying they're suing Tesla because Tesla told them, "good luck with your insurance!". How many would feel unsafe bringing their Tesla in for service or repairs after that, with what, one or two service center attacks a week now?
ā€œForce Majeure.ā€ Reasonableness becomes generally irrelevant.

Except you have no evidence this was committed by an organized group or individuals to further political aims. Because it very evidently isn’t. This is nitwit TikTok brain. The base outcome of an uncaring algorithm. Branding nitwit kids who do things you don’t like as ā€domestic terroristsā€ feels an awful like authoritarianism. This is way too stupid to be terrorism. Is just a new type of social contagion. Bland middle class spoiled children who have no critical thinking skills because they have never needed them. Terror is an act of desperation. This is mindless boredom and social isolation. Terrorism. Funny. Americans are so ridiculously spoiled.
So as an example, by this standard any ā€œlone wolf Islamic terrorist attackā€, even with no casualties, shouldn’t be considered terrorism, just some socially isolated religious zealot and it should be labeled vandalism or arson? Then we can also get rid of hate crimes under the same assumption.

I’m first generation American, I just don’t want this country to end up like the sh.. hole my family is from, so I take it seriously when it seems that these types of things are glossed over as ā€œnothing burgerā€. People are becoming terrified to own a Tesla because of these acts; is that normal to y’all?

I’m so exhausted with it all. I do hope my truck doesn’t get vandalized when it is in the wild however I will NOT stop driving my truck or enjoying it. If it gets vandalized I will do my best to make sure whomever does it gets the proper justice. Nothing silly like my own personal justice, just do what I can to have them held up to punishment that would happen to anyone doing whatever they do/did. If I don’t have the video or it is impossible to make that happen I will move on with my life and count on the universe to handle it. I just don’t have the time, energy, or desire to do anything that could paint a larger target on me or put my family in harms way. Now if they harm my family while we are out, that is a different story and as calm as I like to be I’m not sure I would be able to hold back. Hoping it never comes to anything like that but I think we have some wild ass years ahead of us.

My gf and I were just talking about how crazy things got so quickly. For Halloween we parked the CT at a trunk or treat with an inflatable in the back, everyone commented how much they loved it. For Christmas, my gf got me a CT hat, because it wouldn't have been seen as controversial to wear it in public. In 2025 things got crazy, I went from zero middle fingers in 7 months, to several every day.

What makes me feel a little better is the internet crowd that does these trends typically moves on to the new thing quickly. Sure it's fun flipping off Tesla owners today, but the 10,000th video posted with that same thing gets less likes. Once they get less likes, the poster's sense of worth which is determined solely by internet affirmation goes down. Now what? They need to follow a new trend to get the views and likes up again. Maybe I'm optimistic, but just like the tide pod challenge, this will pass.

You know that is a great point. The next oil spill (admitting horrible) or something trendy to be angry at will likely distract a good percentage of the humans doing the crappy things to Tesla and owners rides. Let’s hope!!!

Yeah it will stop. They are followers and have short attention spans. Social media has just made these things worse. Tesla isn’t going anywhere. They will find something else to be mad about.

You betcha. But if you can’t handle benign accurate adjectives like ā€œlaymanā€ you’re gonna have a rough ride through life, Bud. Yikes!

Anyway as I stated above, the additional information which was not in the first article that I read and posted now notes the use of Molotov cocktails, firearms, and other things sure is starting to look like a lot more like domestic terrorism and is going to end poorly.
I'm not a lawyer either, but I think it OUGHT to be simple: evil is obvious, and should be destroyed, period. Yes, due process, but don't go soft.

Righteous and evil is the domain of the church, not the courthouse. You can slice it how ever you want to and call it what you like (again words have meaning and associated consequences) but at the end of the day, we’re talking about some unlawful, reckless and potentially dangerous actions that resulted in only some property damage.

We have property laws and criminal codes to deal with trespass to chattel.

I’m gonna keep saying it until it sinks in. You just don’t see the same kind of emotional outrage when the exact same types of crimes (maybe minus the gunshots but not necessarily) happen in jubilant or angry reactions in the sports world. Why? Why is the bloodlust only turned up to 11 when it’s those people or got something to do with politics? It’s rhetorical.

All of this nation’s partisans are too caught up in overheated unnatural and inhumane tribalism. It’s a recipe for continued and worsening disaster.

Yes punish the crime apprehend the criminals but we also gotta turn down the temperature and find a new way forward.

Anyway justice is supposed to be blind and dispassionate. Otherwise it’s retribution and persecution. Everybody loses. We’re not all gonna have the same definition of evil. Depending on who you ask, could be you.

When I say evil is obvious, I’m definitely not talking about doctrine (which can be and eventually is abused to oppress), I’m talking about unjustifiable and potentially dangerous conduct. That need not invoke any morality higher (or more denominational) than game theory.

Whether they do at least a decade in jail for arson vs terrorism is a matter of indifference to me save that a terrorism label is best not overused.

As for sports, I'm not with you on that, but I think sports other than the Olympics and maybe some other high level amateur events is a throwback to bread and circuses and gladiators. As far as I'm concerned, all violence against persons OR property should be punished even if the motive is not remotely political, whether it be sports or personal or financial or whatever. Maybe it should be punished MORE if it's trying to intimidate, but mere enthusiasm or anger is not an excuse.

I agree with folks who label this as terrorism. First, there are elements of violence. Second, they aren't just expressing their disapproval of EM or Tesla, they're also targeting private citizens and their property with the intention to intimidate all in the name of an ideology. Seems like all the checkboxes are checked.
