Does anyone else wish regen slowed down a little more when coming to a stop, especially on a downhill? I find myself using the brake a decent amount.

Is there some setting I'm missing?

Sometimes I have to brake if my battery is cold and its cold out... especially coming down a hill. Its as if it doesnt factor in the hill / weight of truck sometimes.

Just because one pedal driving doesn’t slow it down going downhill, doesn’t mean the regen isn’t working when you use the brakes. Look at the regen meter when using the brakes, it will use max regen, before it actually starts to use the physical brakes. Sometimes when the battery is cold, max regeneration is much lower

I guess I should specify the one-pedal doesn't stop me well on downhills.

I happen to agree with this too.... I feel like when i first picked up my truck the regen was more "powerful" and thought one of the future updates may have lessened it (if thats even possible). Maybe its just in my head. When I took it in for service one time I even asked the tech if there was a setting to turn it up.

I owned several 4-motor Rivians and a 2-motor Rivian before I bought my AWD CT. One of the only things I miss about the Rivian is that the regen was dramatically stronger, even comparing 2-motor Rivian to 2-motor CT. I drove Rivians for a couple of years and other than emergency braking, I NEVER touched the brake. Even after 6 months with the CT, I still find myself using the brakes in places I would not have had to with the Rivian. But other than that, the CT is better in every other way!

It took me about a month to get used to the regren on the truck. At first I’d overshoot the line and yes have to use the break or plan to eat intersection traffic. it does not stop quick like my M3P assuming bc it’s heavier. higher speeds in both car and truck regen is degraded.
The solution is plan ahead, see a downhill allow for more distance.

Also, my understanding, is that when using FSD, the truck routinely uses the actual brakes to slow the vehicle down. That is why your wheels have a lot more brake dust than expected or compared to other Tesla's. Who knew?

Thats a bummer. So FSD driving is less economical?

FSD has always stopped too late and used more brakes, it gets better with each update. We used to monitor it with v10 and it would almost never use regen. That's not the case anymore.

Yeah I got better at lights and such, my main issue is that the guard booth is on enough of a downhill slope and I don't want to hold up the line by slowly creeping to a stop as the guard tries to grab my badge. It's awkward without using brakes. I'd rather have to use skill to stop slowly (like an ICE car) than to have to swap to breaks so often.

It'd be nice to know if it really is a mass vs motor thing, or just something that can be a software preference. I suspect the later.

my anecdotal guess: Telsa hasn't cranked it up to the max for 2 reasons:

1) to help people get a better feel and understanding for how heavy this truck is. this is the first truck for most owners. Tesla knows this. most people wildly underestimate the stopping distance for them.

2) Tesla needs a lot more data before they can fully optimize the 4680 charge rates, and regen is a part of that equation.
