Alright, here’s my confession. I was a day two pre order. Patiently waiting for my turn to come. Two months ago I received the email for the Foundation Series and rolled my eyes at the offer. I told myself I will not cross that line. The trucks price has already been hiked up quite a bit but I still considered it fair price considering all economic and value factors.
Since then I’ve opened that email numerous times getting all the way to the final moment of clicking to order. Every time I have gotten there common sense kicks in and says no way.
welp, I have to admit I have no clicked that button. A mix of excitement and defeat all at once. Friends and family have shared differing opinions of this with a wide range of responses. In the end it is what it is. I never make purchases in this manner yet being an 80’s kid this truck speaks to me. I suppose it’s ok to make one unrestrained purchase in life. For everyone still waiting to do it the right way I’m sorry I couldn’t be stronger! I did my best but my cyberlust got the best of me.

Congrats. I sympathize in that this car has been the most expensive one I ever bought. But alas this is a unique creature. When confronted with its sheer genius/ brutality/beauty that’s unprecedented in human history I didn’t feel bad and I hope neither do you. Tbh during the first week of ownership I still questioned the value. The multitude of smiles (my own and alll those who encountered the car) has since validated the value and my decision. You will love the car. It’s one of a kind. Don’t worry be happy. ?

I was in same boat, then I compared what have I done for myself ...
when I was in 20's and started earning I used to make some decisions and purchases for myself to make myself happy ... then it became family, savings, kids, life bla bla bla ...

I really want this truck ... like now now ... 20K additional ...hmmm.... with some forceful value items thrown in the package ... may be I would have picked white interiors, may be wheels but not premium connectivity , FSD at 7K pre ordered etc etc .. so when you line up this items you are not paying 20K extra .. you are paying may be forcefully 10K extra ..

Now to make myself satisfied and get this toy NOW NOW I CLICKED ... I will admit I was having butterflies but after the click I was so satisfied that I did the right thing "for myself" ... (being selfish)

Short term emotions rule those who allow it. But we're all human and sometimes we sacrifice long term logic for short term bliss.

Remember that a Cybertruck will last far longer than a few months and likely much longer than a few years. So if I were you, I'd think back a few years and then also try to think forward a few years.

Fortunately, the Cybertruck as with most Tesla products, keeps on giving a great driving experience for a very long time, so even if you lose a little money or choices on impulse ordering a Foundation Series, in the long term it probably won't make much difference. Even the interior color can be changed if you don't like it or get tired of it. The Cybertruck is a long term investment for many.

The main difference is how you invest your money, and what you could've done with that saved money had you waited. Next time you have such thoughts, I would've post them here before you pull the trigger if I were you.

The CT drives so good that you'll never be concerned that you pulled the trigger. You're going to have a smile on your face every day you drive it. As long as you can afford it, I'd say that's definitely worth the price of happiness.

The people who bought DeLoeans mostly still have them or passed them on- priceless! That's worth reflection! The CT will endure!! The new FSD software will also delight and amaze coupled with steer by wire!! Good decision.

If my Tesla stock wasn’t doing so poorly I would have pulled the trigger on my March 5th FS invitation to configure. I am hoping the share price will increase by the time AWD non-FS trucks are ready to order.

What surprised me about this ‘story’ is your saying that you were a day 2 preorder, that you got the invite, and sat on it. At all. My theory remains that the further away from the unveiling the RNs get the lower the conversion, but you were right there at the top. The car ‘speaks’ to you but you are quibbling over a couple thousand dollars (the amount the FS costs beyond what you get for it)? Well, in the end you made a choice and that is good.

I was a day 6 RN and once I came to grips with the changes I knew that I would order if given the opportunity.

Short term emotions? You must measure your emotions in decades For me this 4 1/2 year wait has seen me go through so many emotions (and many times over) that it has become one of the longest projects in my life. Longer than several jobs even.

To all those who pulled the trigger when it was the right decision for you in all respects except for your personal financial position, I have some advice:

First of all, congratulations, it's a breakthrough vehicle, and I'm not even talking about it's futuristic styling. You are going to love it as long as the personal financial consequences are not too severe.

And to prevent the financial consequences from becoming a future problem I suggest you look at your new purchase as a turning point in your life. An opportunity to cut spending and be happier with less spending so you can save more and invest more.

Less monthly subscriptions, less utilities, less expenditures on food and drink when you are out and about simply because you didn't plan ahead and pack your favorite snacks. Shop around for the best deal on insurance, be willing to do a comprehensive insurance re-appraisal on all your insured assets and get quotes to see if you can achieve the same coverage for less annual outlay. Few people like to spend the time it takes to clean up your personal balance sheet, but it can be very rewarding and help set you up financially for the rest of your life by increasing the amount you can set aside and invest.

On the flip-side, you can do a re-appraisal on the income side of the equation. This is usually more difficult and more risky than simply cutting out unnecessary spending that is not contributing significantly to your health and happiness. However, it may be worth doing, depending upon your particulars.

It's never too late to start or improve your spending to earnings ratio, but the younger you are, the bigger the dividends. Literally. I have stocks now that pay more per year in annual dividends than their entire purchase price. And I've never even been a dividend investor, I buy growth.

The idea here is to leverage what may be one of your biggest expenditures ever, and perhaps not a well-advised one, into a positive catalyst for your financial future.

This 1000%!! I picked my AWD up last night and I literally can’t stop driving it. The truck is perfection! I don’t care about the $20k premium because you can’t put a price on an ear to ear smile getting behind the wheel of this thing! Holy shit does it turn heads though!

Congrats. Pre reveal order here. Got mine last week bits everything I dreamed of. If course there are little things. But first brand new vehicle. Best decision / thing I've made for myself in a long time. Never had a brand new vehicle.
