Cb vs foundation series dual motor w/free supercharging is a tough choice. One is more responsible. and will save you money. The other will jump start your heart.

Hi guys my name is John and i am new to the forum. I have an order placed from April 17th 2025 for a CB and the truck should be here soon. I need your guys imput please on the CB vs AWD as i can't really find to much info on which is better for daily driving. Let me put it this way when i placed my order i was really interested in the Free supercharging as i commute about 200 miles every other day for work some highway driving and city driving (i am involed in restate development / construction) Since i placed the order about a month ago the awd didn't have free supercharging but now it does the FS AWD and after reading a lot on here about the differences i am stuck now. Most of you are saying AWD is a better drive over the Beast. I come from a Ram TRX and that was my daily 41k miles in 1.4 years i drove it a lot. Engine went out at 38k miles (replaced under the warranty and sold the car right after) so i decided to go ev since my wife has the model y and i am liking it a lot. The discounts are great on CT right now the CB i ordered is 107k and I've been looking at AWD for $72000 with no incentives. Or should i just look at the FS AWD with all incentives. By the way i am also looking into the leasing option as i got some terrible financing rates of %10 percent. With that said let's not forget I'll be driving over the miles. Did my calculation I'll be at a $7500 in extra miles after 36 months. The money line question for me is if you guys are willing to give me your opinion is should i stick to the CB or AWD because its not enough to justify the differences. Also al most forgot to add my electrical panels are full capacity i am already charging a model y at home and going the CB route i will get that power wall with my order. What do you guys think and i want to thank you for reading my post God Bless.
Do you want to be unique and stand out and have a truck that can be updated anytime or do You like supercar horsepower and speed 0-60. I only have a handful of people I talk face-to-face with Cybertruck and most of them that don’t have a Beast wish they did. But if that’s the barrier from you getting one, then go for the all-wheel-drive. You can’t put a price on happiness. If you can afford it, get it if you can’t, then don’t , Either way I think you will be happy. I don’t think I’ve ever met a sad Cybertruck owner in person.

Thank you all for all the information. btw i had the Awd for 2 days my kids loved it so much they were showing it off at school to all their class mates my girls are 5 and 6. They absolutely love it especially the rear info system. I never drove the Beast that's why i wanted to know the difference and at the end of the day i don't care about rates or what it costs. I drove the trx for almost 2 years at $300 per week in gas alone. Tax write off. I am the type of person i rather drive a Ferrari now at 40 rather then when ill be 60 plus. If that makes sense. Everyone keeps talking about this front wheel drive thing i might just have to ask them to let me drive the damn beast. Also i usually keep my cars no more than 2-3 years i don't know if that makes a difference on the financial part, owning a business and depreciating my cars at over 30k per year is what i was told to do. Thank you all

I went for the Beast, no regrets, between 100 & 120k financed didn't make that much of a difference to me, but them producing 1 for every 10 AWDs (Est) is what swayed my descision.

We did a THOROUGHLY scientific project on that here, and we came up with 1:1 ?

I spent a week with the AWD while on vacation about a month ago. Prior to that, I had briefly driven a Beast (like maybe for ~45 minutes)

The Beast is absolutely insane when it comes to power. If you're into stoplight drags or Baja racing, go for it. Otherwise? I'd take the AWD every time. Obviously my perspective is that of buying/financing one and planning to hold onto it.

It's:
  • More efficient
  • Mechanically simpler
  • Comes with dual mechanical lockers (if you plan to do any off-roading)
  • Most importantly, it's RWD-biased under normal driving with partial throttle, whereas the Beast is FWD-biased.
That last point is a big one—the tuning just feels off on the Beast. The front axle noise and occasional hop when accelerating over bumps around town is unpleasant. The AWD, by contrast, feels well-sorted.

As for power, the AWD is still far from slow. It never left me wanting more, even after driving the Beast.

On top of all that, you're saving a massive chunk of change—especially if you qualify for the EV Tax Credit while it’s still available. Even setting aside the upfront savings, it should make the depreciation curve less painful—unless you lease or plan to keep it until the wheels fall off. Including the tax credit on a non-FS AWD, you're saving like... nearly $30k compared to the cheapest Beast. That's nearly an entire base Model 3, or a lightly used 3 Performance.

If you're leasing, go with whatever I guess. I'm not sure the lease pricing difference between the Beast and AWD, but if it's not egregious, I wouldn't turn down the extra fun factor you get in the Beast.

As for your home charging situation, you can install 2 Universal Wall Connectors on the same circuit and they can dynamically load share. Although with your amount of driving, the free supercharging could save you a not-insignificant amount of money, do you really feel like sitting around at a Supercharger for 30-40 minutes every day after driving 200 miles?

TL;DR: I don't feel the Beast is worth the much higher cost, unless you're super into stoplight drags and baja racing. The FS Package might be worth it to you if you can take advantage of the home powershare stuff... but you definitely aren't going to get that money back when it comes time to sell it, and as of right now, it doesn't work without the Cybertruck.

+1 on an AWD. Was on the fence about getting a beast, but landed on an AWD and have absolutely no regrets. AWD is still plenty fast for daily driving. Kept my M3P instead in case I want to go faster. However, I’ve only driven the M3P once since getting the CT. Heck, my youngest kid has driven my M3P more than me. ?

Let me keep this simple. You don’t need a Beast. The AWD has plenty of horsepower and speed and it rides better, costs less and is objectively more capable off-road because of front and rear mechanical lockers.

I say this as a FS/CB owner. It’s fantastic, but you don’t need all that quickness and you’re never gonna use it legally, or frankly- at all. It’s not a dragster and even though it’s quick 0 to 60 you’ll get smoked eventually in anything over a quarter mile by anything that’s roughly 0 to 60 in three seconds with a higher top speed. You are hard limited at 130mph, you get there quick and then there’s nothing you can do but get spanked and take it like a man after yo max out. See any drag race video on YouTube.

Like all of them, my beast is front wheel drive biased in daily driving and it’s noticeable and there are times when the front axle will skip because of this it hits hard and it’s very unpleasant. I spent a day with an all-wheel-drive foundation series while my truck was in the shop and found it to be way more refined and compliant.

So to sum this up. You do not need a CB. I don’t need one. And if I had to do it all over again I would still buy a CB because I am flawed as a human being and need to be able to own the quickest baddest version available. It’s ridiculous. Don’t do it!

Ray Romano used to have a bit about how his mom would hassle him about getting a college degree because … well … he would be able to say that he was a “college graduate.” His response was well I can say it anyway! What’s gonna happen I’m gonna open my mouth to say it and only get out I’m a “kkasaalkkka gwohljsk?”

It’s fucking fantastic but you don’t need it unless you’re simply looking for verifiable bragging rights.

*Besides this, the best advice I can give you is don’t listen to @CyberGus!

I kid, I kid!
Interesting post because I’ve been having anxiety over not going bigger. Nice to hear some reasons why I shouldn’t and now that I didn’t I feel better and can let it go. Plus how often are you gonna need to race a Lamborghini on the steeets lol

I consider the Cybertruck to be a wolf in wolf's clothing. I think of the Cyberbeast as a werewolf in wolf's clothing.
Agree. I was thinking along similar lines. It really is like having a three headed hell-beast! It can drag, it can cruise, it can crawl, it can turn on a dime but it is raw and wild. Slapping Cerberus on it was definitely truth in advertising.

Also, nicely put …

If money is no object get the beast. Someone said they heard it was clunky around town??… No it’s not. Beast gets you crazy power with little loss of range when driven normally. I liked the interior upgrade which hasn’t been mentioned. It’s subtle but never a fan of hard plastic dash panels.

Arguably, if you’re not using the beast superpowers , the price disadvantage of the beast probably easily negates the financial benefit of free supercharging over the typical ownership cycle.

I had a Model S Plaid, objectively both CT’s are quite a bit slower and more ponderous handling.

For high mileage, I’d go with the AWD. It’s rear wheel drive in most scenarios, more efficient, and tested 0-60 times are in the high 3’s making it still exceedingly quick for a truck. Drop it into sport mode and initial thrust on all these vehicles is traction limited so feels pretty similar off the line to the Plaid. The Plaid would just accelerate harder for a longer duration. Suspect the same would be true of the CB.

Also you get mechanical locking diffs, should you ever need the added traction.

I’ve owned my AWD for nearly a year, never felt like I missed something not buying the CB.
