I thought I had to buy early because I thought there might be a line. So I wouldn't do foundation.....I would take the savings and put it toward a second cybtertruck so I could drive one since my wife drives the first one.

Given what you know now (May 2025)…take out the fanboyism…take into account the controversial style, social hatred, recalls, fit & finish, discoloration of bed, FSD updates lagging behind other Teslas, no matrix headlights, no range extender battery, etc.

(Note, i am NOT a hater…please see my previous posts…but just want to list as many negatives as i can think of so to get an accurate answer. And yes, i have been researching A LOT and know that there are MANY positives about CT…but just want to push people to give honest answer.)

What would you tell your younger self if you could travel back in time to when you hit the BUY button? Would you stop yourself from buying? Or not? If Tesla bought back your CT today, then would you buy another again?
I would tell my younger self to wait a few more months…there will be plenty available, FS is massively overpriced and you’ll get much more for your money if you wait…I’d also tell myself the home power thing isn’t useful for running A/C in Arizona in my house (can’t even power one of my 3 AC units) and that the truck bed battery thing isn’t gonna happen…I would also tell myself if you drive like you normally do, range is about ½ rated range. But if you drive 65 mph you get massively better range than if you drive 75. I would also tell myself the light bar comes unplugged for legal reasons and you don’t really need it anyway. I would tell myself the solar charging tonneau isn’t real. The crouching down to deploy the ramp from the tailgate isn’t real. The battery powered 4 wheeler is never gonna happen. The exoskeleton is just decorative metal glued on and the structure of the vehicle is essentially two unibodies…I’d say aluminum handles repetitive stress poorly and it’s a good thing you don’t need a truck. But I’d also say the acceleration is amazing so go for it!

Interesting. I live in Arizona too. We have a powerwall and some solar but haven’t set up PowerShare yet because of the pending software. I was kind of thinking the Cybertruck could cool the house with 10kw or so of output. What issues did you run into?

I have a Powerwall 3 and it powers my central ac without any issues. We have two zones / condensers in a 3800 sq ft house. I forget how many tons our condensers are but they aren’t physically super big.

CT PowerShare can do the same specs as PW3, which is 11.5 kW and the LRA can handle spinning up a condenser (I forget the number but it’s in the specs).

Also install a soft start on your AC.

My ac unit needs 45A at 240V. The assigned electrician company says gateway can only handle up to 40A.

Same electrician company won’t give me a quote for my separately metered back garage. They want big costly jobs, not easy cheap ones.

I think the soft start idea is the right concept. Typically that kind of amperage is only for startup I thought.
45x 240 is 10.8kw.
I think it’s true that the 240v plug in the bed can only do 40 amps but I think the universal wall connector setup can do more than that.
Can anyone more knowledgeable than me chime in?

I was hoping for more wattage. . I need 50amps in my ct. I’m currently sad cuz it is a 50 amp plug so I’m hoping there will be a hop up amperage wise somehow. id pay for it no problem.

I don’t understand why it would take so much more to start than run, but physics has a way of being a bǐtčħ.

Can’t say I fully understand it either but I’m guessing it’s inertia related.

I’d never purchase one again. I’d only lease it and even then, only once they lower the APR. Right now it’s sitting at 7.99% for a 3-year lease, which is just way too high to justify

I would and did buy another CT after my FS AWD was bought back by Tesla. I test drove some other vehicles before making the decision but could not find a comparable vehicle I liked so I got a nonFS AWD with the $7500 tax credit and the 1 year free trial of FSD.

If I had to do it all over again, I might’ve waited to get free supercharging that still gets me upset. My biggest hesitancy would be the idiots that give me thumbs down, just yesterday. I had some morbidly, obese, pink haired, non-binary thing stop me on the way into a Starbucks and said “you people that drive that car aren’t welcome in these parts“l

It’s a good thing my wife was with me because otherwise I would’ve totally gone off on them. But encounters like that suck the fun out of driving my car but other than that it’s a spec spectacular vehicle.

My reasons why I bought the cybertruck are all fulfilled, no disappointments there, so yes I would buy again. My only slight upset is that I should have waited maybe six months to get the better financials. I paid FS uplift because I wanted the truck in 2024, and was expecting to see a long wait for the non-FS to come available. In hindsight I could have saved a lot by waiting a few months and buy non-FS, add FSD and lifetime connectivity, get the tax rebate. I don’t care about wheels or interior colors or the special floormats.

This was a first time Tesla buy. I was/am OK with feature evolving over time that I won’t fully get. But was not expecting such a price drop so shortly after I got mine (8/30/2024).

btw: it looks like I need to shop around for insurance. I took the Tesla insurance here in CA, pay $250+ per month, for two drivers, 65/70y, one minor parking lot fender bender accident in last five years, 12000m/y. Anybody on here living in the Bay Area and have a recommendation?
