But
Here is a step by step install…not difficult.
I’ll watch! But my question is why? Why can’t they do this themselves? Is it like being part of a “Maker Movement” to get used to doing things with the car? I like the concept but there must be a reason they way us to do the last mile.

⚠ CYBER WARNING: Light-Bar “Upgrade” Turned My Truck Into a Baby Cyclops ⚠

Booked a quick brow-lift for my 26 k-mile Cyberbeast. It came home:
? Odometer 000 mi — truck thinks it’s fresh from the womb.
?️ Crooked uni-beam — one-eyed light-bar staring into the void.
? Surprise parts swap — because nothing says “premium service” like mystery surgery.

Full cringe-fest here ➜ https://www.cybertruckownersclub.co...n-—-with-a-lazy-eye-and-a-missing-limb.41930/

Wait.. let me get this right. When you get the light bar… you have to do part of the installation yourself? Including soldering? I mean- I am an old Ham and know how to do some soldering but really don’t think I should be F’in around with my Cybertruck like that. Why don’t they do the whole job?

By the way- drove for an hour in rural middle Tennessee late last night. The brights on the Cybertruck are amazing. Can’t imagine what the lightbar at adds!
New process should just require a connect mating inside the B Pillar.

I’ll watch! But my question is why? Why can’t they do this themselves? Is it like being part of a “Maker Movement” to get used to doing things with the car? I like the concept but there must be a reason they way us to do the last mile
Because the lightbar is not street legal/ FMVSS compliant. So, as a manufacturer, they can't fully install it.

These are not street legal so Tesla cannot install them on your vehicle and be in compliance with controlling law. It’s a big deal for them to offer this and asking us to complete this one connection is the best solution for them to do this and make it as convenient as the law will allow them to.

Now, it would be also great if it wasn’t prone to fly off of our vehicles, but that’s a different kettle of fish.

But, generally the rule is you’re not supposed to look a “gift horse” in the mouth. [And, yes, I know it’s not exactly a “gift horse” since we had to pay some portion of our $20,000 premium for the pleasure.]

Ah, it is CYA processing. The flying off is probably part of the journey- making memories! I do love the plug and play in the app. Seems they built every single component for this non-street legal add on except for the last four inches.

The service center in New Mexico scheduled me for a light bar installation. They said that both service centers in the state are getting a huge parts delivery along with the new primer. They said that that a full physical instalation would be done, including completing all wiring. Just that they can’t physically turn it on at the control screen, only show me how. Maybe they also don’t take off the protective tape over the lights. No installs have been done in the state yet.

I just spoke to a friend who had his installed. He was informed when he arrived that if he wanted to wait a little bit Tesla was releasing a mount bracket for it incase the windshield broke it would still be mountable and usable.
Unfortunately for him it was a 3 hour drive and he wasn't going to drive back without it because of that.

If you haven't gotten it yet and you've gotten the email I would recommend contacting the service center and asking about the bracket.
Tesla apparently considers it a consumable and will not mount it on a new windshield if replaced, this is what the service center told him. I bit of an expensive windshield consumable.

Will do. They are getting the deliveries early next week. I didn’t want them learning on my vehicle so I asked for the install on May 30th so they get through their learning curve.

I had to cancel my installation appointment due to work conflict. It was supposed to be this Thurs. I'm going to wait a few more weeks before reschedule due to the potential of new technique/primer/bracket for install. Maybe bundle it with a tire rotation or something.....

Thx! I had my possibly not broken but definitely not plugged in taped over lights glued on to the glass yesterday. Only took 11 months.

Hello guys,

If I purchase a used Foundation series that the owner did not ordered the lightbar can I still order it free of charge as a second owner?

It’s not really ordered. It’s an accessory that comes with the vehicle. If your owner hasn’t received it at the time you purchase it it seems like it’s been a mixed bag. I don’t know that Tesla will automatically transfer the email to you or if it will go to the original owner or just be lost in limbo. If the light bar is important to you I would try to make sure to sort this out with your seller in advance. Or try to purchase one that already has the light bar installed.

For the cyberbeast (it did not come with the cybertruck) service had told someone a while back it was tied to the vehicle not the original purchaser. If you've purchased a foundation cyberbeast used and it is still pending one they will contact you about it when they have one for your vehicle.
