Brand new AWD VIN 69XXX is bricked in my driveway. Not a single error message or anything weird when I got home from work yesterday with about 100mi left. Plugged it in and it started to charge just fine. Nice weather, mid 60s. Went to get in today and completely unresponsive to keys and cannot connect to my phone. Charging cord is stuck plugged in and roadside side they can't connect to the truck either, so it's getting towed.

This absolutely wrecks the thought of taking this thing hunting, camping etc. Real confidence loss overall in the CT platform.

**Update - was able to jump open frunk and then jump the 12v which let us get inside, unplug and get it in tow mode. Had a ton of error messages.

6/9 - Service center called and said they diagnosed a failed PCS as the problem. Part won't arrive until 6/11. That's 8 business days after being towed there.

6/11 - Service center said they have replaced PCS but are still in the 'diagnosing phase' and tackling multiple other issues. Waiting on high voltage wiring harness to be delivered. Estimated completion moved to 6/13.

Sorry to hear about the CT malfunction. I just got mine 10 days ago and everything was fine until my first charge. The app was the only thing that would open my charge port. Svc not out for 6 more days. Hoping I don’t have the same issue.

OK then, you had better not take any ICE vehicle hunting or camping either. Because this has happened with every vehicle model ever put into production. What matters are the rates of undrivable vehicles, not that it happened to you!

I don't have 100% confidence in any vehicle, even though modern vehicles have a very low rate of being undriveable, and I (and most others) have never had a single reliability issue with our Cybertrucks..

Of course - it's Saturday so I can't get a loaner (which is INSANE when you think about it) there are loaners sitting in the lot and I can get assigned one via the app so why is that not possible?

Bummer to have issues with such a late VIN, had hoped the first 20k vins took the hit of reliability

Mine is 4400 VIN, perfect reliability. And I've beat it up incessantly off-road and on horrible roads. It lives outside in the rain, snow and sun 24/7.

I don't disagree! I guess it just *seems* like the rate of randomly undrivable cybertrucks is higher than most (or all) ICE trucks. Time will tell...

The recent poll on this site was shockingly good actually. Something like 95% have had no problems or nothing of significance if I'm remembering correctly. Way better than industry average, especially for a brand new platform.

I got mine at the end of March VIN 66XXX. Currently has 2300 miles and mine bricked a couple of weeks ago. I got notification it had stopped charging and then was not able to communicate. Did the same thing (12V jump) but ended up driving it a day before driving it to service. It had a whole list of codes.

Here is what they changed out on mine:
Concern: Customer states: Charging - Vehicle stopped charging last night. Vehicle was then “bricked” and would not communicate with app. Had to use jumper cables to open frunk and then “jump” start the truck. Please look at vehicle logs as a lot of alerts are present.

Repair Notes: Verified customer concern through logs, Tested wiring and checked for soft sets, did not find anything. Escalated and Replaced the PCS and MV Battery, Verified proper operation on test drive and supercharged.

Correction: MV Battery - Li-ion 48V - Remove and Replace
Parts Replaced or Added
Part Quantity
MV BATTERY- LITHIUM 1.00 ION-48V(1679931-00-F)
MV BATTERY-LITHUM 1.00 ION-48V(1679931-00-E)

Correction: Power Conversion System - Remove and Replace
Parts Replaced or Added
Part Quantity
POWER CONVERSION 1.00 SYSTEM -
48AMP(1777777-12-E)

Im expecting something similar. My concern going forward is why should I have any reason to believe the parts they replace will last any longer or be any more reliable. Same parts from the same factory etc. Why is the PCS failing to begin with? is THAT issue resolved?

Same thing just happened to my parents’ new Model Y. While it’s the new refreshed model, it’s essentially the same platform that’s been the world’s best selling car for the past 2 years, and some of them still slip the cracks and leave the factory with issues. I don’t think anyone on here will argue about the fact that Tesla’s QC is less than stellar.

They’ll make it right for you, though. Try to give it a fair second chance before being afraid of using it how it should be used. I know, easier said than done. I acknowledge that trust is hard to build up and easy to break down, but don’t lose hope.

Mine became non-responsive a few days and a few hundred miles into ownership. Tesla replaced the rear drive unit (AWD truck) and all has been well since. Best vehicle I have ever owned.

Even ICE vehicles have a higher rate of failure when brand new. Just the nature of the beast with immensely complex technological devices.

Just like an ICE owner ought to learn how to jump his vehicle, EV owners should learn how to jump their LV/MV batteries. This will allow releasing of the pin in the charge port - necessary for towing. And, just as important, provide access to Service Mode, which will provide significant insight into what's actually going on.

Tesla will get you squared away.

I had a 2018 Model3 which I drove for 70000 without any issues whatsoever, changing only cabin filters and tires once, lubricating calipers once. Oh, and windshield washer fluid. No oil changes, no brakes, no radiator fluid, transmission fluid, etc. I traded this in on my AWD CT and 10000 in no issues here either other than me being a dumbass and backing into a tree (minor damage which I fixed myself).

I think we all need to understand that ICE vehicles also have computers and batteries and CAN busses (in many of the modern ones). So the "controlled fire" propulsion mechanism (did I mention fire was man's first "invention" 1,000,000 (thanks gemini) years ago? :)) is similarly subject to bricking unless you pack an extra starter, computer, alternator, battery, extra gas etc etc. We need to get off of these rants of ICE vs. EV and start talking about quality of product and I have heard examples of it on each type of vehicle.

I do also have a Honda which has excellent quality and 300k mi on it BUT I CHANGED OIL, REPLACED RADIATOR, REPLACED O2 SENSORS, MANY SETS OF BRAKES, REPLACED FUEL PUMP, CHANGED AWD/VTM TRANNY FLUID EVERY 40000. I probably spent as much in service as I did on the vehicle list price.

P.S. I am sorry for your experience - from what I have read this is the exception not the norm. And for the Rant. But I feel better now so mission accomplished.
