I scheduled an appointment for the wireless charger swap yesterday, because my wifes phone was so hot it literally burned her finger on the metal holding ring. Not good.
Service advisor told me that phones are hot, wireless charging process is hot, and Arizona is hot. Therefore, nothing is know that can be done.

Is there a known fix? She spoke with master technician who told her there is not a known fix at this point.

Greetings,

Just left Tesla Service Center, Alpharetta who replaced the cell phone charger in my Cybertruck. They indicated it was a new part. The post conversation, after the service offered two considerations. 1) Charging in direct sunlight may contribute to additional heating of smart phone. 2) Charging the phone in a phone case may also contribute to additional warming of the smart phone.

I was told the service time was an estimated 3 hours. However, a little less than 1 1/2 hours later, service was complete.

Good look!

Regards,

Metal holding ring? That sounds like a bad thing to have with an inductive charger...

I wouldn't try charging, if it's that hot, until there's an updated fix.

my iphone stops working altogether and wont let me use it until it cools down if i set it on the charger for more than 20 minutes. its worse than not charging the phone, and outright prevents phone calls.

don't let service dismiss the concerns - this is a defect in the wireless charging specific to cybertruck. I never had this issue with any other wiressless chargers, including in my model S. saying arizona is hot and phones heat up is a moot point when you're blasting cold air with the AC. i suspect there's a real part defect.

unfortunately new charger was the identical revision that came out of my truck. service hasn't discontinued the old part revision so depending on stock, you may not get the one with the cooling fins. but sounds like other folks still have trouble even with that part too. entirely new part is needed, and there is no fix for now.

Lol Tesla advisors are the sassiest car advisors I've encountered.. One SC I went to used to be an exotics car dealership.. I was making some small talk bringing up the dealer.. he said yeah hopefully the more time goes by the less people stop bringing up that this place used to be an exotics dealership.

My Tesla advisor told me the same thing on the service appointment day even though they had already ordered and received the updated part. I ignored him and told him that my CT is my 4th Tesla (2019 Model 3, 2020 Model Y, and 2020 Model C) and never had this issue before. He looked at me puzzled now post installation I can definitely tell that my iPhone 16 Pro Max is charging better and not as hot
