Pretty interesting solution for off-grid. What do you guys think?
Is it worth it since the Extended Range has been cancelled?

Someone also made a pair of solar panels that goes on top of the frunk. Imagine combining the two sets, it will be like an Aptera ?

This is a pretty decent solution for securely mounting a semi-permanent auxility source of power, but it's not going to be beneficial for actually charging the truck.

For that, I recommend stacking several panels on a cart that you can deploy from the bed of the truck, and setup in a field. You likely need at least 4 450 watt ground panels to maintain your standby percentage. Probably will only gain a few percent during a few days of just standing by.

The GoSun EV Charger has 1200 watts of solar to a parked EV in the sun. Shall we do the math on how many hours/days it’d take to “charge” 75kw of a battery?
In my opinion, solar chargers for vehicles are only good for limited use cases.
What do you think?

Thank you for a very informative video. So for me the purpose of this is not to decrease the cost of driving the car but to add unstrandability to the already impressive list of things the CT is impervious to. Especially since I’m in Arizona and often camping with my small kids which I recognize is pretty dangerous.
I also considered the DPU and for a while was using my delta pro 3 in a similar way but I have since downsized to my delta 2 max and 1200w of panels as an insurance policy for making it to a supercharger even if very slowly.
The video gave me pause though because of the 600w calculated draw. Maybe I need to consider going a little bigger again.
The DP3 I have two of can take 2.6kw of solar each but they are bulky and dont fit well under the cybertent.

Well, since you go from losing range every day to net positive...

I'm going to say that's better than slowly losing range.

If you plan to drive more than you're parked, it'll actually cost you energy.

So, go to an airport, park in the sun, plug it in, and set the charge time to optimize (does it draw 600w charging no matter the outside temp?). If you have some sun, you can leave sentry mode on. Same story when camping.
Nice.

What happened to “solar tonneau that can add 10-15 miles a day? “ am I hallucinating that this was something discussed by Elon at one point?
