I wonder if taxes on gas and diesel will be going up also.

We're set to get an EV road tax ( again) here in Victoria/ Australia.
It was defeated a few years ago in the High Court (?) as Unconstitutional. All the taxes paid were returned....here we go(again)!?!?

I’d be so pissed. We pay about $75 in TX and it doesn’t matter what the vehicle is. I probably wouldn’t bother with an expensive vehicle if I lived in one of these places.

On the flip side, our property taxes are high in Texas. So that affects the house purchase decision. there was a time when the combined value of our vehicles was 2/3 the value of our home. Vehicle registration paid $225. Prop tax paid for the house $9k.

Just renewed my Beast. Not only are new vehicle registrations no longer two years before the first renewal, there is a $200 Texas Electric Vehicle fee. My registration was $277 this year. Still not bad compared to most places, but more than I was used to.

...why the admin warning on this post when that is the red flag/reasoning behind the fees mostly? Ridiculous, we are more than capable as adults to have discussions on policies/reasoning that create these large fees at a macro level.

Unfortunately, that is not universally true.

Really, these states should make it fair across the board. If they’re going to do this for EVs they need to it for ICE and Hybrids as well. Don’t give me this crap about gas tax. EV owners have to pay electric tax.
