You can explain that basic mods are cheaper and that if you can’t do those to the y you’ll end up doing more elaborate expensive things to the CT.

Definitely will! It’s going to be part of my post about comparing the Aeroblade to the BaseCamp. The Aeroblade is on the CB and the BaseCamp, which will eventually go on my Scout Traveler, is going to live on the FJ until then.
