I know others have posted similar findings, but I decided to take off my core wheel covers and use hub covers but much to my displeasure, I've found that all 4 wheels have damage in the same spots circumferentially. There are gouges within the spokes and over the edge of the wheels. All wheels have the same pattern of damage. It does not wipe off- the damage is on the wheel finish. If you have core wheels, and care what your rims look like, something to look out for.

Unfortunately Cyber wheels are the same way. It wouldn’t be a huge deal if you didn’t have to take them off every time you adjusted your air pressure or rotated your tires. The covers look cool I guess, but their impracticality makes them thoroughly not worth it.

How much range is affected by taking covers off?

well, at least these wheels are less likely to get curbed due to the large tires, but still, not a great finding.

I think I read Somewhere that if you report it to SC that they will pay to refinish the wheels. Mine are the same way, I haven’t tried yet because it will just happen again if I fix it…..maybe ceramic coating would help?

Yeah, i made a service appt. Curious what they will do.
id assume these wheels are painted and not powder coated, given how easily they are scratched. The paint is bunched up in some places, so it cant just be painted over. Not only that, but they'd have to dismount the tires, tpms, thoroughly clean the wheels, refinish, remount, rebalance… probably would end up needing new tpms too… idk it seems that the Least labor intensive is to just replace them.
Problem is, what do i do about wheel covers? i think the wheels have a nice design, and look great without the covers… but Im all about trying to maximize efficiency if possible. As @ABILISK said though, they have to come off every time i want to adjust the pressure… so they aren't just static.
This damage occurred on all 4 wheels at the same rate, and i think I've removed 1 of the wheel covers once before taking them off for the hub caps... not sure if SC removes them for their ā€œautomated pressure checkā€ but its been in service 6 times since i got it, this will make #7.
