Did anyone else's local showroom have a Holiday Celebration? The Buffalo, NY location had one today and it was a nice event. There were free snacks and giveaways. Additionally, they were handing out Cybertruck toys that were plain white and kids could color them. I grabbed a few for my 2 and 4 year old nieces.

To enter the giveaway you needed to do a test drive, so my gf and I decided to drive the Model S. We told them we were going to swap driver's half way, they said no issue. We switch seats and then realized there was no keyboard in the car, it couldn't be shifted into drive and we were stranded. Calling the local showroom was impossible, all phone numbers directed me to "Salt Lake City" general Tesla support. They messaged the Buffalo staff and no one responded. After 30 minutes a prompt popped up on the car saying shift to drive, they apparently realized we were gone too long and were able to remote start.

When we got back the raffle had ended, but the team was cool and they gave us a Tesla mug and a wind up Cybertruck toy. The only thing better in the raffle was two of the $175 diecast Model 3 toys, but I saw some kids won them, so I was happy they got them.

Overall it was a weird day when we were trapped in our demo drive for a half hour, but even with that it was a nice event. There staff was nice about the mistake and gave us some goodies as an apology. If you have kids, I recommend going to your local Holiday Celebration to get the Cybertrucks you can color and some hot chocolate.

The act of leaving the driver seat and doing a swap with me who was riding in the back seat meant no one was in the car, this apparently caused it to check for a key. There was no key in the car. When we first left on our test drive there was a Tesla employee in the car that tapped their keycard for the mandatory FSD demo. When they left the car, they took the keycard. This meant we were stranded until someone intervened.

ahhhh - so a keycard not a keyboard ;-)
the cool thing now is that if I pickup a loaner vehicle it goes onto my phone -- so no keycard needed - I imagine they can do the same for a test drive, but I get mine while "in service"

They definitely have done that for me every time I had a loaner vehicle. The test drives they don't do that at my showroom.
