I’m going to brag a bit and say this is the best solution to the overheating charging pad, yet.

I designed and 3D printed a new charging pad that uses 2 MagSafe chargers.

Tesla Cybertruck ⚡️Wireless charger overheating fix!!⚡️ -- DIY 3D print charging pad using 2 MagSafe chargers IMG_0438

This is a direct replacement for the factory Cybertruck wireless charging pad. The OEM charger has poor retention (phones slide), causes overheating, and sits too deep to see the bottom of your screen.

This design utilizes two high-strength 15W MagSafe pucks to keep phones indexed perfectly for efficient charging without the heat buildup.

📺 Watch the Install & Build Video:

HARDWARE NEEDED:

To complete this build, you will need the following parts (these fit the specific cutouts in the model):

• MagSafe Chargers (2 pack): https://a.co/d/3c3CP3r

• Suede Wrap (Self-Adhesive): https://a.co/d/c7rR5UR

• USB Hub (For internal connection): https://a.co/d/aykGaVq

POST-PROCESSING & INSTALL:

1. Wrap: I wrapped the printed part in the self-adhesive suede linked above. This hides layer lines, adds a premium factory feel, and protects the phone glass. The magnets linked above are strong enough to hold firmly through the suede.

2. Wiring: The cables route through the existing rubber grommet near the 110v outlet inside the console.

3. Pro-Tip: When you remove the center console trim to install this, remove the cup holder insert and wash it in the sink. It's the only time you'll have easy access to it!

This brings the phone slightly higher and at a better angle, making notifications visible while driving. The MagSafe alignment solves the heating issues caused by the loose tolerances of the factory pad.

Looks good. Can you print this for me? I don't have a 3d printer or is there a 3d printer service I can send the file to?

Or should I buy a 3d printer? Which 3d printer to buy?

Yes. I believe there are several services that will print for you. One thing I didn’t mention was that I had to break the light bracket off the original and glue it to the new version.

Love this well done, where did you get the print file from or did you create it?
I created it. Many prototype prints, measuring and reprinting.

Is there a link to the 3-D file for printing? I’d love to get this printed!

What you’ve done looks OEM but has huge improvements!

Kudos, Gaximus! Thanks for sharing!

Great work! Looks like a great design. Thanks for sharing.

Have you tried to see if the key card will still read from that location with the chargers there? Just in case you need to use the key
card for valet or if your phone key ever stops working.

Phone key works fine. Never tested the key card. But the only thing I relocated was the original charger pad module. I’m not sure if the keycard module is part of that. I’ll try it later to see.

Did you try modifying the OEM one? Remove the oem power unit, drilling a hole in the outer plastic shell to be able to add the mag safe charger? or is that just not possible? I may have to expirment with that.

Beyond that, why not tap into the USBC power wires and splice them instead of running the usb through the outlet and plaugging into the usb c?

Point on all of it, I think you can do something similiar retaining factory look, while possibly cleaning up the entire wiring you have... Not fully positive though as I haven't taken it apart, but you have me thinking now.

My original plan was just to remove the factory charger and put the MagSafe behind it. But the MagSafes were not nearly strong enough, and I didn’t want to make any permanent changes to the truck. Also there wasn’t enough room in the original area. The original pad also prevented me from seeing the bottom of the phone screen, and near impossible to swipe up to unlock it or use it. My design actually curves at the top making the pad about an inch longer than the factory.

Also cutting a hole to put in the charger would make it very hard to keep the charger flush mounted so when wrapped it doesn’t protrude. The 3D print has a ledge and backing piece that physically holds it in place.

i didn’t want to cut or splice into into any factory harnesses. not while its while its still in WARRENTY at least. I thought about pulling the existing usb port through the wall, and connecting it behind it, but I’ll probably never use the 110v, and I had already smashed my head on the screen enough times fighting the existing implementation.

Tested this, and you’re correct. I lost ability to use the keycard. I moved the original charging pad, to the front floor area of the console. Because if you just disconnect it, you loose the console floor light. I bet with a little bit of moving things around I can make it work, and using the keycard one the front of the console.

Been there. Done that. Great work! Thanks. I'll have to get a new phone eventually and I know it'll be Magsafe. This'll fix that issue.

One thing to keep in mind, I had to move the original down to the base of the console(just kind of hangs in there), the original IS also the sensor for the keycard, so if you start your truck that way, or want to make a copy of the key, you’;l need to mount it so it works through the console front piece.

While I appreciate that is solving the real problem (misalignment of phone to charger coils), I think it’s an incomplete solution.

Mostly because you’re not using OEM Apple MagSafe chargers, and since you’re splitting the USB-C, it can only deliver <15w to each device.
And you’ve got that key card issue.

if you want to maintain 100% keycard functionality and get true 25w MagSafe to each phone, the solution I’m using solves for that: https://www.cybertruckownersclub.co...r-has-a-built-in-heatsink.44192/post-30792342
