I actually did have a spare, as well as a plug. I now have a CCS adapter so I am much better prepared.
I bought the A2Z because it's got all the certifications and support for maximum voltage and amperage. It's high-quality and I've used mine upwards of 300KW a few times without issue. The Cybertruck specific version is a perfect fit and CCS connectors fit nice and snug. Yes, it's pricier than some of the Amazon specials, but I am 100% satisfied that it's the best on the market and worth the price. I even bought their S3XY version for my Model Y - I like it THAT much.
Seems like Southeastern Utah, Arizona and New Mexico are all pretty Supercharger sparse. Getting across the Four Corners and into Northern Texas, while towing my travel trailer was the toughest part of a trip from Salt Lake City to Boca Chica and back. For the sake of my RV adventures, I really hope they accelerate the Supercharger network expansion in that region.
A few years ago, we were headed to Grand Canyon after staying at Mesa Verde (available level 2 charger at the hotel, whew!), thru Four Corners, and had to back-track to the Blanding charger. Then on thru Mexican Hat (Forrest Gump) to Page. There were no chargers back then at Cortez or Kayenta, so backup plan was RV park. Having driven Teslas thru 45 states, the routing for that day actually required more study and planning than any other, even between Montana and Upper Peninsula, MI.
My Cybertruck is my first EV (I just added a MY to my garage), so I didn't get to experience the earlier days of universally sparse charging. But I absolutely appreciate what it must've been like. Even in the short time since our trips to Texas and Glacier National Park, we've seen several new chargers open up that would have been helpful for our trips. It's reassuring to see such rapid expansion - it's only going to get easier and easier to travel.
I hauled an Airstream with our Model Y and the manager of the Cameron Trading Post gave us permission to charge at their RV park between Page, AZ and Flagstaff, AZ. We could not have made the elevation gain into Flagstaff without it, and arrived at the Flagstaff Supercharger with zero precent. It was harrowing!
My daughter went to ASU for part of her undergrad that elevation change and temperature drop is killer!!!
Love the stories from the Good Ole Days!! I've had to really pay attention a few times, but was never on Zero! I have the cable and could now give someone a boost from the CT if they're critically low, but so far I've never run across anyone low on juice.

I remember one time driving with my dad in a U-Haul when he moved from Vegas to Memphis (upon retiring) we drove together straight through in about 22 hours. He was driving through Flagstaff in the middle of the night and I woke up shivering demanding to know why he turned off the heat?! The heat was on full blast yet we were just getting brutalized by the wind and temperature.
I’ve never been colder in my life!!! I don’t know exactly what the temperature was, but the coldest temperature ever recorded in Flagstaff was apparently -30; I think we were right around that (not counting the windchill). People who don’t know simply do not know.

Going that direction from Phoenix proper was an eye opener regarding to range. I started the 140 trip in temperate conditions with 248 miles, made it with 20. I had my first Cybertruck elk hunt in November, in the High Uintahs. It was unseasonably warm, but we got one helluva show, one night, in the form of the Aurora Borealis! I towed my trailer for that hunt, but one of my buddies knocked on my door to tell me about the Northern Lights. I thought he was pulling my leg, but I went outside and sure enough, the sky was on fire and dancing! I joked that the Cybertruck's battery must've been generating a big enough magnetic field to drag the Borealis all the way down to Utah. I didn't fill my tag, this year, but the light show partially made up for that.
