I don't think Elon was bluffing about upcoming FSD 14.3

I just got back from almost a full day of interstate travel, and I have some good news...

... I was able to "cat nap" through very long stretches in the early morning. Very sparse traffic, clear straight roads, and I was allowed to keep my eyes closed for an extended period of time with zero strikes or even warnings. Did this for about an hour and a half in total (not all continuous). Wasn't wearing sunglasses, but was sitting upright. I assume you have to have a decent posture so the attention monitor doesn't think you are completely zonked out or have a medical issue.

What solidified it for me: I caught the truck performing subtle swerve onto a rumble strip when no-one was around, and the road was clear (no tire marks, potholes, or anything else to dodge). No doubt in my mind it was testing my reaction. Opened my eyes, looked around, saved the footage, and closed them again for another cat-nap lmao. Tesla can simulate a LOT of things, but they always need to study the human factor.

No, I can't prove anything (sorry). No, Tesla absolutely cannot admit that they do these kinds of tests. You'll just have to take my word for it. Or call me a fibber, idc 🤷‍♂️. Either way, gents, we are REALLY close to some awesome progress.

When there’s nobody around, FSD would swerve onto the rumble strip to avoid tire marks.
Yep! FSD successfully dodged a lot of tire marks today, but none during my cat naps.

This is much needed. When it’s clear road, it should be lax. Closing eyes for few mins really do help. I mean if it can’t drive without accidents on clear weather and empty roads, then jokes on them if anything happens. Wake me when it’s semi passing time.

So despite the rather lurid thread title nobody here is on 14.3 right?
Good point, the title seems a little ambiguous. Hopefully that fixes it.

I'm on 14.2.2.5

I’m all for FSD and all for being the answer, but it is irresponsible on every level to not pull over when you were drowsy and to openly admit to going back to a catnap. Posts like these are what eventually cause more hurdles and probes into FSD and causing problems for general wife acceptance and approvals. Please consider deleting this post.

I was purposely testing the system, ya doofus 🤪. See the air quotes around "cat nap"?

Haha with the internet these days you can never be sure, plus some easter drinks may have clouded my read through. Ty for confirming you aren’t a tard. 😂 I have dozed off while in FSD for a few seconds and pulled over worried. FSD probably saved me a nasty spill over the side of the highway so please pardon my ptsd.

one thing I really liked about the eye tracking was that in the very unlikely event I were to fall asleep while driving, I thought the car would instantly alert me. Disappointing to see claims that it allows people to cat nap…

Wear glasses can trick it. Not long though. But cmon, it’s a straight empty road. Let me do me.

Brother, I gotta be honest here... I like your positive perception of me, but:

Otherwise I agree with your callout! There have been some dangerous people out there hacking the system to test limits. I have deep respect for safety mechanisms. That's why I love FSD so much.

Its an evolutionary step change in safety going forward. 30,000 people a year; dead from crashes. It's so absurd.

I doubt I'll be able to recreate that scenario. I think it was a one time gig. And I would also bet that only a few people will too.

I could see the "please pay attention" message blip for a half-second, maybe. It would only flash on the screen briefly. Never had a blue-flasher, a double-tone warning, or anything else.

Just the occasional blip of the "pay attention" text. It didn't feel like a bug. Felt like shadow testing or A/B testing.
