honestly how secure is that. It's surrounded by plastic trim.
a crowbar is easily going to take that out, and wouldn't take much time to drill it.

putting valuables in the glovebox seems just as fine, you'd need to pry that open too.
as far as my gun, I don't keep it in the truck. it's either in my door (left handed) or on me.

Obviously there are layers of security; nothing is going to be foolproof. Comparing this to the glovebox that you can open with a screwdriver and your hands in 5 seconds is silly. Crowbars need a gap large enough for the claw to wedge into and then lever against. You'd basically have to smash all the plastic and remove the center console which takes time, something thieves almost always don't have. Almost all vehicle interior item thefts are smash and grabs. This does great against that.

No one is suggesting anyone leave a firearm in this overnight in a remote parking lot. It's for visiting places that don't allow firearms. On top of that, most states require a locked metal container to store a firearm in a vehicle. This meets that criteria; the plastic glove box does not.

I realize nothing is foolproof but this safe is silly. To each their own though.
If criminals see a safe in a car, they're thinking gun and they are going to get that bad boy out.

And that's incorrect when it comes to gun storage. It doesn't matter if it's a plastic or metal container. The laws in certain states restrict a gun in your console or glovebox period, safe or not. metal or not.

If you're in a state that has these gun transport laws, generally rule of thumb is you need it in the trunk, unloaded. If your car has no separate trunk (suv) it has to be in a locked container OTHER than in your console / glovebox. The idea is it can't be accessible by driver or passenger. Stupid but dem the rules. I try not to be in those states.

Having done a lot of research, there was no real brand/quality vault for the CT available. They were all just random rebranded Chinese junk. Console vault finally has their version available.

Looks like the exact same vault as here : Center Console Lock Box
but without the touch sensor unlock capability. I've seen these with a variety of different locks attached but the vaults all look the same. I have a new article coming up soon that shows modification to this vault to allow for additional accessories to reach the plug in points inside the center console. Stay tuned for that!
