Damn. Getting annoyed with people on the road these days. I got rear ended in a car wash the other day. Had multiple video footage angles and girl still tried to deny doing it. Her shitbox only damaged my hitch cover thank god. And of course she wouldn’t give me her insurance, though she probably didn’t have any.

Hope you find a remedy for your situation.

Interesting
Crash tests are obviously focused on passenger safety
That collision really had no danger to people
But shows a weakness for all vehicles hit at the corners
For legacy, it would have been bent frame or tons of unibody parts replaced/or totaled vehicle
For the cybertruck, approx $6K parts is low
They’ll glue the cast
Lots of labor
The cost won’t be terrible thus not totaled
The CT cast and outer stainless skin is not bad from a cost point of view
Point is, corners are vulnerable on any vehicle toward the frame, cast due to the focus is safety protecting people not the vehicle itself

Basically had this happen to me the other day. FSD simply slowed down and adjusted - I never manually drive anymore
Same for me. I just can't compete with the always-on awareness and wide-vision of FSD especially at night when the deer hide in the bushes ready to jump in front of me. Crazy to be at a point where I feel so much safer on FSD than driving manually. Been a long time coming...

They’ll glue the cast
I doubt it. The repair with glue is to replace the area around the crush cans, but this collision damaged the area supporting the shock tower (and thus, supporting the weight of the vehicle). Replacement of the casting is the only real option.

In JerryRig's video, the shock tower supports were not damaged, making glue feasible.

A hack might try to weld small cracks, but cracking means the shape was deformed and the truck would never drive right with such a repair.

It’s going to be the labor costs to R/R the front Giga casting that MAY lead to a total loss decision by the insurance company. Keep us posted on the outcome.

On my way home 2 miles away a 2023 Camry turned into my lane abruptly I was manual driving next thing i know big impact crazy sounds and lost control of cyber.

Could not drive home and insurance could not line up a tow truck for me (progressive).

No human injury’s but the front passenger tire will not turn, or hold air and it makes some nasty noises trying to do so . My windshield is damaged and the frames lost its gaps and cantrail is out of spec now.

What are the chances it’s an insurance total? There are no immediate errors besides low tire pressure.

Of course. I meant they cannot "glue it back together" like your mom's broken vase when you were playing football in the house

Well, yeah that wouldn't fix deformation, and @kpanda17 wasn't talking about that. They were referring to gluing in the new casting.
