Tesla solar/2 Powerwall owner, here. My EVSE is an ancient JuiceBox 15 kW unit which I thought I would have to replace with a UWC, but an EE and fellow EV/solar owner tells me that all EVSEs are bi-directional by design and that my EVSE should suffice. Today is our 2 week anniversary on delivery of our AWD Cybertruck...loving it...so we *think* that all we need is a software OTA to get Powershare active. Watching this thread...

Totally agree - borderline scam.

I don't think this whole power share hardware/installation model is going to end well. There are a ton of people complaining about this with massive overcharges on a simple installation.

I have a friend who is a very good electrician who has done many battery backup systems. He told me the amount of money alot of these electricians are charging on the Tesla forums for the power share system install is ridiculous.

Tesla got your money and now you have to jump through a bunch of bureaucratic hoops to get the hardware that you paid for.

Feels scammy.

Got the same email. Will buy 1) crossbars 800, 2) ramp/ladder 400, 3) spare tire kit 1250, that's 2450 already, may grab something else cheap, only when they are all available.

The fellow owner is correct in that level 2 EVSE are effectively just a smart mechanical switch that handles AC and thus is bidirectional.
However, I think the right smarts are needed to tell the Cybertruck it's okay to export power. Otherwise there is no way for it to know if it is on or off grid (unless they use WiFi, but that probably isn't reliable enough).
So you may need a Tesla wall connector.

Truly thanks Tesla for the $2500 voucher to the store, but all the good stuff is on Backorder for the past several months. Help! Anybody know when supplies might pick up? I did get the rear seat storage a week or two ago...just before it was on backorder again within 48 hrs.

I’m super dissappointed with Tesla on this part. I took delivery of my truck on Jan 23rd and still have not received a voucher or any equipment. Called a million times and no one has any clue how to help me.

Why wouldn't Tesla just provide $2,500 gift cards instead of these one-time-use vouchers? They obviously have a mechanism in place to track gift card balances, but instead they force everyone to spend all $2,500 in one transaction with a voucher—when hardly anything is in stock. This is a really shady move on Tesla's part.

Didn't figure out the backbone of installing across America. Thought it would be easy.

Fine but give electricians that are licensed the ability to install the product.

Reminisce of some software/hardware conundrum that happened 30 years ago. Maybe it might remind some people of some things. Some wall around a magic product.

A battery and it's connection isn't magic.

I need to get ready to raft another day.

Agree that battery, disconnect, wall connector install is not magic. However, software side commissioning does often require the magical incantations of mage level pixie wranglers only some of whom are privy to the arcane secrets of the Tesla guild...
