I reside on Florida’s Space Coast. Ten days after taking possession of the CT my family and I decided to take a trip to Washington, DC. Given the length of the trip we stopped in Fayetteville, NC to overnight in a hotel. The ride there was smooth with 4 stops to charge. The attention the truck got was incredible with people driving next to us filming and taking pix, waving, giving us thumbs up, etc. We only spotted one other CT in Jacksonville (pic) and none all the way to DC. That would probably explain why every time we stopped we were approached by someone who had questions and/or wanted to take pix. Once in DC the people’s excitement continued. It was pure insanity. Even though we drove a lot around Washington we only saw 2 other ones.

On the way back we opted to not stop anywhere except for charging. The 15.5hrs ride was long but extremely comfortable. The kids were in the back listening to music and watching movies, so they had a blast and the adults took turns driving. At no point did we have any issues with the truck whatsoever, including driving through heavy rain with the wiper going at full speed.

In total we spent about $260 for charging for the entire trip. I do not drive conservatively by any means which is clearly reflected in the stats I attached. We also had 5 suitcases in the back.

There is really not one negative thing I could say about the entire experience. We had the best time. Usually people look forward to arriving at their destination, for us even the drive was an absolute treat.

Awesome! Thanks for posting.

I also live on the Space Coast (South Trop Trail).
My wife and I saw your truck by the Publix in SB on Friday (I think).

You were the talk of the Taco Bell crowd!

Congratulations! Beautiful truck!

I took delivery in March and have done some (much shorter) road trips around California and have had zero issues as well. It’s turning out to be a really useful truck as well. I’ve done a lot of hauling of stuff, filling the bed past what the tonneau would cover. No. Issues.
I’m in love ❤

How does the experience differ from your Model 3? That's what I'll be coming from.
There is literally no comparison. The steer-by-wire makes the driving effortless and even though the truck is heavy it is super nimble to drive and it makes tighter turns than the M3. Don't get me wrong: I had a 2018 M3 LR before the CT and it almost broke my heart to sell it but the CT is a whole new level of driving fun. The acceleration is similar to the M3. At first it's a bit weird that a truck weighing 6,700 lbs behaves "sports car-like" but man, it is such a smooth drive. I was never a car guy but man, I love this truck!!!

I have only charged on SC for free with my MS. Fix my math if I goofed, but if you got 30mpg on gas and paid 3.50 per gallon, the EV costed more to charge? I pick up my CT today and home charging is obviously cheaper but is my math right on charging on the road?

Superchargers here in TX are ~ $0.35/kw, so it’d be about $43 to get ~320 miles of range just using superchargers. Does that help?

How does the experience differ from your Model 3? That's what I'll be coming from.
I've got a Model 3, Model Y, and now a Cybertruck. There's a lot more similarities than there are differences. The range are the same, the controls (except for steering and wheel) are the same (also excluding the stalkless, which the new Model 3 has)

The absolutely biggest difference, in my book, is the move of the voice command from the right rotary to a dedicated button. I keep turn the autopilot off when I am trying to navigate!!!

The other issue is not having FSD yet. It's a lot more stressful having to drive. And you can attribute part of that to it being a wider vehicle that has less ability to veer before it goes over the lines.

You've got the obvious different seats and doors and stuff.

I'm coming from a 2018 LR also. It's crazy that it'll drive so well for such a large car. I'm excited for the bigger cabin and seats (6th seat would have been the best thing ever) which is the biggest perks of trucks for me.

I've only driven trucks for short periods and am intimidated by managing a much larger vehicle and parking and such. Whipping around town and finding parking is easy in a 3/sedan.

No 6700lb ICE truck can get 30mpg, so you have to compare apple to apple. And Yes, usually charging at supercharge is double or triple the price charging at home sincy less likely you would charge it at lowest price time period when you hit the road.
