I wondered about this when I made those choices but that's what I wanted so that's what I ordered. Yesterday I got an interesting call from Tesla offering immediate delivery (Houston area) if I would change to white and all terrain tires. They said they had "several on the lot" that we could pick up immediately. So it seems that either these two new options are more popular at the moment or maybe they have a more limited limited production for them. Either way, I would be driving my new CT (and not waiting) if I wanted to change to that configuration. That would make sense as they only recently made these options available.

I am about 7 weeks from ordering so I was expecting a vin some time soon but now I am wondering. Maybe these new options change the curve in the near term.

I've read with a little amusement comments about FS ending soon. They will end it when people stop buying it. And people should realize that there may still be a long wait. I think it's true that as they work through the list, the rejection rate grows. People who were really hot for it signed up early, generally. But just because the don't spring for the FS, it doesn't mean they will bail. I have a friend, pretty far down on the list, who got his invitation and declined but he's not bailing. So, my conclusion is if you are down the list and don't go for the FS you probably have a significant delay ahead of you. They'll go back to the top of the list and start offering it to those who declined the FS and the uptake will be higher.

What do you mean that you are about 7 weeks from ordering? Have you received a FS invitation?

And yes, from the many threads on this forum, deviations from the standard delays delivery, significantly.

I'd say that there is a high possibility that the standard FS trim is about to stop production. Only the grey will be produced.

I mean I ordered it 7 weeks ago. Of course I received the invitation - no other way to order. Maybe you were thinking I only reserved. Statements from Tesla said recently that FS will continue into late 2024 dispelling a rumor that it would stop in July. I'm not sure what you mean by "standard". I don't know what evidence there is that they would stop the white trim. White is a popular option on other models too.

After I made this post, I read today that they are just starting to deliver the tactical gray trim so maybe it won't be too long.

I'm not saying that you said anything wrong, just clarifying. There have been numerous instances of people confusing orders and reservations.

The reason that I think that they may stop the white trim is two-fold.

First, they seem to be at a point where the sales of it are getting slow.
Next, it is supposedly a special Foundation Series trim, which suggest that it will disappear at some time.
And lastly, Tesla builds it vehicles in batches. With the number of orders for the white decreasing, it may be time that they switch the line to gray and then that's it.
In the cars, we've seen that they build one color for days and then switch to another color. If you order a less popular color, it may take significantly longer to get than a popular one. i.e. they only run that color every other month as opposed to the other colors that they change weekly.

The other thing to think about, why would they continue it?
