I recently had my beast wrapped in STEK Dynomatte Black. I love the overall look but am having some doubts on the quality of the install. I have a follow up appointment in 10 days to address any lifting or other concerns.

Aside from some edges pulling back which I was told was normal and would be addressed in the follow up meeting I am trying to determine if my expectations were too high or if the quality of the craftsmanship is lacking. I paid $7,700 for the PPF install for context.

For example, here is a picture of the driver’s side door jam with the wrapped edges. I feel like the cuts can be much cleaner and not resemble something a child would cut. Am I wrong here?

I plan to raise these concerns with the shop when I go back but wanted to see if was being too critical. Thoughts?

I am holding off on naming the shop until we’ve discussed further.

That's super sloppy. Depending on the area, there should be enough to clean it up at least.

Is that $7.7 K for just the install labor?

Either way at 7K + that's not acceptable.

I think the example you gave is reasonable, but I have seen much better results. Functionally there is nothing wrong with the way the wrapped around the edge. Maybe they can agree to add another seam over the edges to hide the cuts.

This is like if a carpenter makes the inside of their cabinets look good. Its nice, but not necessary.

Edit: I just saw your other pictures, this job is not acceptable. They might need an adhesion promoter, but they need to figure that out.

The $7,700 includes the PPF which I believe was $2,000.

Oh my, this is why I’ll be trying a DIY kit. Im sure I’ll have it masterd by the time I get 5-6 changes under my belt for the same cost. I’m sure it looks good from a far, but far from good close up.

For $7,700 the work better be damn perfect especially from a professional shop. This is far from acceptable in my opinion. If it were me I’d ask for some repairs, money compensation, and a guarantee that they’ll back their install. To be that careless for your work on a $100,000+ car is shameful. Not a good look for them.

I think the work is bad. I've had mine for weeks and the finishes are much better, you can't see the doubles and there's zero detail. Where did they do that work? They didn't even tell me what I had to go to. I think they trust their work a lot. I spend 3200 but is Wrap not PPF......PPF is around 4200...

That is horrific for that price. It is horrible even for free... I paid $8500 for my PPF, but that included window tinting and also a ceramic coat. The shop that did mine in Fresno was amazing. He would have never let that leave his shop.

Spoke with the shop owner just now. I am going to send him a detailed list of all my issues and he assured me he would rectify them. This is a highly recommended/reviewed shop in North NJ. Here’s to hoping he makes it right…
