This is an incredible truck for camping. Utilized the outlets for running my fridge and traeger. Tri-fold mattress from Amazon fits perfectly in the bed.

Nice setup and spot! I was wondering if we can do the same, but I was very worried about the safety sleeping overnight with the bed open or partially closed. Is it a private spot or a public camping spot?
FYI, people have slept in tents for many years. Easily accessed by unzipping or slicing. Or in the case of wildlife, just using claws.

Many have even just slept under the stars, on the ground.

So it does get pretty warm with the cover closed. I had to close it a couple times for a little rain.

Several new companies have been soliciting ideas. My number one request has been to have a bug screen for the truck bed. It’ll make a huge difference for sleeping in the truck bed. As @Cybergirl mentioned, park under a canopy, put the bug screen on the bed, and sleep like a baby! No need for tent or anything fancy. If it’s not rainy, you don’t need the canopy as well!

I've camped several times in my CT over the past 6 months. I bring along a 10 x 10 foot canopy for sun and rain protection. Just back under the canopy during a rain storm and all stays dry.

Nice setup. I like the Canopy. Could you please share the link? Thanks!

We sleep in the vault with the tonneau closed most of the way when security is important, and in the cool winter months with an electric blanket. No canopy is needed when camping in the Arizona desert. Just leave the tonneau open an inch at the gate for air circulation.

In summer, sleeping in a closed vault is not practical without A/C. I set up this system to air condition the vault. The BougeRV on max cooling draws 230 watts, but typically less than 100 watts to maintain a comfortable temperature within.

It draws in some fresh air, as well, to keep CO2 at a healthy level. The BougeRV has a maximum output of only 2880 BTU, so it usually runs continuously at a low noise level instead of cycling on and off like larger units do. I can run it all night on less than a kWh of battery. That's less than using Camp Mode. It rests on a transparent folding panel (1/4" Lexan) that allows natural light into the vault come morning and eases any feelings of claustrophobia that some people are sensitive to. It also reduces humidity which can make tent sleeping pretty miserable in July.
