Hey All,

just an update on my CT situation.

i dropped my truck off on 8/14 to remedy problems identified at delivery, including:

Metal trim damage in the frunk
Solar damage to rubber door stops
Ticking from rear speakers
Loose buttons on steering wheel
Auto-shift out of park not working

so far, the service process has been OK… they gave me a loaner M3 that was pretty beat up, they then switched me to a 2019 MX LR that is very much showing its age, but at least my knees aren't up next to the steering wheel…

Each week the truck is in service is another week that i am paying to not enjoy my purchase… I'm really hoping Tesla recognizes this and offers some sort of compensation…

i get that the SC is super busy and likely short staffed but they havent been very clear about what the delays are nor how long its going to take. First it was 3 days, then a week, now we are going on into 9 days (estimated for today but unlikely to be completed today… )still waiting to hear back for an updated estimate… some items say “waiting for parts” other still say “preparing”.

i guess thats what us “beta testers” get for putting our faith into the CT program despite all the warnings…

To be honest, each one of the listed "issues" sounds stupider than the one before, or totally made up, maybe pic would make it easier to understand. I guess some really want to find stuff to complain and play "beta tester" victim card. GL with your repairs
Not sure how you thought your comment was helpful. Ive posted about the ticking sound from speaker, physical damage, and autoshift issue here. Unlike you, others had been helpful in trying to diagnose and repair those things PRIOR to me deciding to take it in for service.

Not sure how not being ok with dysfunction/damage/quality control issues on a $100,000 car upon delivery is me playing a victim but thats your opinion i guess. At least the SC is taking me seriously and trying to fix the issues.

have a good one.

Unfortunately this is to be expected with a brand new car in its first year of production. There’s always some sour apples in the bunch.

It sucks having your car in service for a long time when you’re just trying to enjoy it or especially if you use it for work. I hope they fix all of this quick for you.

yeah, i mean sure my truck wasnt delivered with the glass shattered and bald/flat tires but the issues i mentioned are noticeable things…its like buying a new construction house but then having to get leaky sink and holes in the window screens repaired the day you move in.

The thing I'm upset by is that i put the ticket in the day i bought the truck, and im going into week 2 of the truck being in service, with no estimated time to repair being given.

I hope it’s done soon too, i miss my truck.

It's clearly a supply chain issue with repairs. I had to have a rear quarter panel and rear bumper replaced when I backed into the side of my house. Truck was perfectly drivable, but they insisted on keeping it. Took 5 1/2 weeks to get it back....

I hope you get your truck back soon. If you are not happy with it you have every right to take it in and have it looked at. Service centers seem to be Tesla’s weak link.

You are simply being triaged in a time of very high service center congestion since your issues aren't critical.

It took my local service center 5 months to diagnose and replace a single tire due to the foam inside coming loose. During that long time, I received almost no communication from them. It was easily the worst customer service I've had related to an automobile repair.

Sorry to hear your service center sucks at communications too. :(

I hope so too… Really is a shame because its one of the best warranties in the industry. The staff there have all been very nice but its clear their system is broken..

To be fair, i am not sure if its solar damage or some sort of chemical discoloration.. it doesnt wash off. It looks like something splashed on them there and then dried in the sun.

To confirm, you are talking about the coloring of the seal/ trim that is only visible when the door is open?

Completely normal. All of our clients trucks had this including mine. We used an all purpose cleaner on all rubber and plastics with a ceramic coating on top. Problem solved
