Greg, it's not like you to post about new Tesla stuff. I'm shocked!
Let’s see if I have something post worthy tomorrow ;)

Come on, already!
Actually, it'd be nice to get FSD... Further, it would be nice if Tesla would reinstate FSD on our Model Y. We can't find anyone who can answer why the transfer didn't take place... We picked up our car in August.... AFTER receiving this:

We sold her 2020 Model Y August 15th, more than 2 weeks after being told FSD transfer was complete.

Tesla Cybertruck Autopark release this weekend for Cybertruck 1725633121162-37

Delivery for the 2023 was scheduled for 14 August 2023.
We sold her Model Y on 15 August 2023
We picked up the 2023 on the 16 August 2023

The reason it took us so long to figure out it didn't transfer was that we were on the 90 days of Free FSD that came with the new Model Y. We thought that the FSD transfer happened just as we were told.

Apparently, while we thought out timing excellent, Tesla says they can't fix the issue because we sold the old car before picking up the new one. (We paid in full for the new one on 28 July 2023. The dealership we sold the old one to paid us on 16 August 2023.

Unfortunately, the only contact we could get with Tesla was from the app and since we moved in that 90-day timeframe, the service center that "transferred FSD" is nowhere nearby.

We don't want to sue the company over an FSD transfer issue that is the result of someone making a mistake, but we just don't know how to contact Tesla.

It's been about a year now... I don't drive her car so I don't think about it. She wants FSD but says it's for me to figure out. Problem is I don't remember to work on her issue.

Do you or any of the other members here have any idea how I should proceed? Or are we screwed at this point?

I’m not sure how to advise. I’m sorry! I’d absolutely ask for clarification, it sucks no one seems to be helpful though.

I was under the impression that you couldn’t transfer FSD unless you sell to a private party (and that worked for us), but you are trying to retain the FSD. Of course, if they say that it transferred maybe you ‘should’ sue them.

We sold to a private dealer. The problem was that when they transferred FSD, it didn't go. They said that it did so we sold the old car on the day of pickup which was then pushed a day by Tesla. They then couldn't transfer FSD because we no longer owned the old car.

We sold our car to a private person but through an online dealer. They required the pink slip signed off in advance, but we didn't do the transfer of FSD to the new owner until they were in our driveway. The online dealer didn't complete the sale until we had done that (and other things). It does seem to me that Tesla is being overly cautious. They must have good reasons, but they should also be willing to work out the wrinkles and it seems like they aren't willing. That is where the legal system comes in; it forces people and organizations to get together. Even at $8,000 it is worth getting the FSD transferred. For our Model 3 it was $6,000 and for our Model Y $10,000. It is a main reason I haven't transferred 'ownership' of the Model Y to my wife now that I have the Cybertruck. I am unwilling to mess with Tesla over this. So she has the pink slip but as far as Tesla is concerned I own it.

Why is this taking a year to get FSD on CT? They said on the earnings call that they could just flip a switch and turn on FSD on any OEM model, yet they cannot even flip the switch for CT?

I figured nobody had it yet or else there'd be a screenshot at least of the download starting and inevitably someone posting "I'll put out a video later." But, since I'm at work, I wanted to at least poke the bear and maybe see if I'll be surprised when I go out to the parking lot this afternoon... May just have to sit for a bit and let it update so I can try it out in an actual parking lot. LOL

Do we believe (I know that we hope) it will be a wide release rather than a few selected YouTubers getting it and we get it a month later?

Lies sell cars.
This is the Tesla version of the “Dealership Experience “ direct sales were purported to avoid. Instead of the salesman BS we have EM and X. Instead of the dealership unwanted add-ons we get Foundation Series. In place of haggling over price we get unpredictable future pricing changes. Welcome to the new future of automotive sales.

Not fair comparison

1. The old “Dealership Experience “ is haggling over price AND unpredictable future pricing changes.

2. Either way (dealer or direct) you always have possibility of large swings in real final price and also unknown real deprecation because market supply vs demand IS the real final arbiter.
