I was surprised to get the Non FS email today. I'm way down the reservation list (RN1129XXXXX), reserved on 11/23/2019 (evening). My Garage is just getting Framed over the next 2 weeks. Emotions are tougher than I expected.

I too would like to get the tax credit. But the lack of official comment from Tesla is not a promising sign.
I received an invite to order and was quite shocked to get that today. My reservation is 113193xxx and I live in North Dakota. I do own a MY so I'm already a Tesla customer. I'll probably wait a week or two before deciding(I've got 2 more reservations). It's a bit of a issue with finances since I was expecting an invite next spring or summer, but this makes me wonder how fast Tesla will get through the huge backlog that most people were assuming they had.

The Golden Ticket invite arrived in by inbox at 2:18pm today. Being a day 2 reservation holder I didn’t expect the invite so quickly.

With less than 3-months left in the year I decided to wait for a 2025 model. The possibly of getting improved 4680 battery cells is also a driver in my decision.

After waiting for years I may even delay my purchase longer and wait on the $61k RWD version.

If I waited I would've saved $2k, because I wouldn't have gotten the white interior and the FS Beast is the exact same price as the non-FS other than this when factoring in all add-ons/incentives. However, after seeing the grey interior versus the white, I'm glad Tesla forced the option on me, because it looks so much nicer. Ultimately a win, because I got the interior color I didn't know I wanted and I got it over 4 months ago.
"it looks so much nicer" = grey interior?

You are delusional if you think people are paying a premium for badging.

I say this as a cybertruck owner since Feb and wrapped it in the first month.
Did you wrap the dash too?

Have you seen the grey interior in person? It looks really cheap against the black trim vs the white.
I disagree. As soon as I saw it compared to the white, I switched my order to grey. It looks so much better in person than in photos.

I got the invite at 4:30pm CST and have tried to order multiple times with multiple cards. It keep saying payment method declined but its not even going through my bank or my card. I texted Tesla they said their sites been down but I'm not buying it. Any ideas on what to try or just go to sleep and try again in the morning? Kind of annoying.

Tactical grey is much better looking. Once I saw both, it was an easy choice. Grey should be the upcharge, white the default.
I agree. I was not happy when I saw the FS came with only a white interior option. Luckily grey became an option a few weeks before I placed my order. White in person looks tacky while the grey looks great!

Congrats!! but not to me and others I know who have the grey thinking it was going to look better. Looks very cheap in person. The color grey contrasting against the black reminds me of old Toyotas. I actually prefer the black TSportline over all of the white/grey if you really are looking for the sleek sophisticated look.

IDK if this applies to anyone else, but my range using FSD is much better than my own driving.
Yes, I noticed the same! Looking forward to taking it on a 1000 mile road trip later this year.

Mine is slightly worse than when I use ACC. I suspect it is due to FSD not maintaining speed properly. slowing down and speeding up is worse for range.

Im ready to order except assuming the point of sale tax credit is imminent, im going to wait. I want base interior/ wheels and my income is under the limit, so not waiting would be financially dumb, unless of course the tax credit qualification just isnt going to happen anytime soon. Any insights anyone? Asking anyone at tesla would be a waste of time im sure.

it seems like this round of invites is aimed at those who don’t qualify for the credit or qualify for the commercial credit or want interior or wheel upgrades. Obviously tesla wants the high margin option sales so offering the pos credit isnt really in their best interest unless they need more demand but i doubt thats the case yet.

maybe its just a paperwork issue but i think it’s possibly a marketing ploy to sell more upgrades.

Pretty sure the CT is going to now become more of a niche product, more than the S/X even. Demand should be way lower than what they can produce. It just looks way too different to capture interest from the majority of legacy truck buying market, period. Common sense tells you that demand has probably halted, some will pick it up for cheaper now with less options, but most won't.
I think the CT is going to be a lot less niche than S or X. No question the price increase and FS first offering chilled initial demand some, but now that people can pickup an AWD with grey/AS and FSD subscription (or base AP), I'd bet that demand is going to double at a minimum. If they work out the tax credit, that'll be another boost and when they finally get to the point of offering the RWD, then the sky is the limit.

Part of me hopes that Tesla will leave the FS on the menu for the foreseeable future as a way to skip the line. One of my fears is somebody totaling my CT and having to go back to driving my other car while I go to the back of the reservation line.

Well, if they weren't able to source enough of the ingredients for the batteries domestically, the trucks might not qualify next year, and the number of sales they'd get boosted wasn't worth the effort to finish the paperwork.

??‍♀

Tesla is known for cutting corners like that. The tax credit is only really a one-time hit (the paperwork) to their bottom line, and otherwise doesn't impact the per-unit revenue.
