It's kinda windy here today. I was sitting in the house and heard a crash outside. Open the door, and what do I see?

Tesla Cybertruck Mother nature broke my windshield 1729451417306-ql

At first glance, after clearing the branch off, I thought the windshield and roof were fine. But, then I noticed:

Dang it.

I think that swings in at $2600 or so.

Seriously? Ouch. I was hoping for ~$1K or something. I guess I'll find out when Tesla updates the service request.

Sorry man, that must hurt. Hope insurance covers a lot of it.

I had the windshield in our MX replaced last week and it was $1800. I can't see the CT being less. At least it's still drivable.

I had a scratch maybe in the lamination but it’s so minor I just let it be. Quote was incase they had to replace. Mines only visible on the passenger side but it wasn’t worth the whole replacement over it.

Damn, that sucks. Insurance should cover that. Guess that window crack mishap during the unveiling wasn’t truly a mishap. I lived in the woods for most of my life and, generally, the branches that snap off are already weaker (dead) branches and aren’t as heavy. That one honestly doesn’t look that heavy. It’s disconcerting to see how fragile these are.

If the tree is big enough, even it’s smaller dead branches can be quite heavy

Yup, and that one came from about 40 feet up. From the marks on the windshield and roof, I'm impressed that more of it didn't break. I think the corners are more fragile, though, so this was extra bad luck.

I was really hoping that with this truck having biohazard mode and can resist bullets that the windows would have been more hardy to protect from damage as well.

Yeah, its just part of the price of living in the woods. I'm actually impressed there was no other damage, given the size of that branch.
If thatvhad been an ICE OEM, I suspect more that just your windshield would have suffered damage. Sorry to hear about this unfortunate event.
