Great video; done in a warehouse with a vinyl backdrop, no live audience, says a lot but no real surprise. Well scripted ‘impromptu’ dialog - seems like his friend mentions great range ( long pause ) then talks about accessories that can be added. Range is disappointing but for a day contractor/commercial truck user, it will be fine. Shorter recharge times will likely be a big plus for many, just no long distance family camping trips. With all the other features (Tesla, please note the functional dashboard) will make this a great EV truck - if they can solve all the other issues of vehicle manufacturing and support.

There, I fixed that for you.

I would love for this EV truck to be real but it's screaming "fraud" louder than a fleet of 747's taking off In unison. I know some will not see what I see but the clues run ten feet deep.

I cannot prove fraud for a very good reason - this kind of fraud doesn't admit fraud to anyone. Everything is done in the likeness of a serious company, the only thing that separates it is that they do not have the ability to create what they have presented. But, they can act like they are trying and make millions (for themselves) while doing exactly that - acting like they are trying. The investors will lose everything.

I wish it were not so.

Canoo pickup design got sooo much right excepting the pinched tail. Bed extender to barn doors the renders reflect a design campaign fleshed thoroughly.
There's a lot about this vehicle that doesn't make a lot of sense. I don't want to crap on it but that bed extender might seem cool until you consider this:

Generally you want a longer bed when you are carrying longer items. I have an F-150 with only a 6 1/2 foot bed. But when I put the tailgate down, I have 8 feet, albeit open on the rear (but so is the Canoo). It seems like a lot of complexity and weight for the dubious extra functionality of the side wings.

If I have a motorcycle in my bed, it's strapped down, so the wings don't matter. If I have sheetrock or plywood back there, it's tied off so the side wings don't matter. If I have a couch back there it needs to be tied off so the side wings don't matter.
Basically, if the rear is open, the cargo has to be tied off anyway so what purpose do the side wings fill? It seems like a lot of weight, complexity, expense and space for so little additional functionality.

What if you want that couch, but also a bunch of boxes?

The wings let you have more options while carrying longer things.

I get it that there might be special use cases when the wings would be useful on the right occasion, I just don't think those occasions crop up as often as someone might think. And there is generally an easy work-around regardless.

They not only surround the cargo, keeping it from flying out, making it easier to secure,,, The wings are also more aerodynamic than stuff sticking out. They also might hold the cameras and sensors for the car's assistance software.

I think it looks awesome.

Iveco and others have the dropdown sides. These trucks look like shit from all the abuse. I’m speaking from an International market where concrete block, cement bags and sand get loaded in them.

It looks like you misunderstood and thought I was talking about drop down bed sides when I was actually discussing the bed extender feature. I pointed out that an American pick-up with a 6.5 foot bed turns into an 8 foot bed when the tailgate is dropped. That's the same length as the Canoo without the little wings on the sides of the extension.

It didn’t take long before news confirmed your assertion that Canoo was a con. Good call!

On Monday, aspiring electric car and truck maker Canoo Inc. told investors it was abandoning or scaling back numerous key aspects of the strategy laid out when it raised $630 million last year.

I like it. Did they say if they were going to sell it or if it was subscription based?

I just don't see how this company survives on its own without some other major player coming in that helps with volume and service. Like a government contract, amazon, apple, or a legacy auto. Thoughts?
They plan subscription only. There is a you tube with Jay Leno talking to the Canoo admin on this.

I believe part of their latest news, was they are abandoning the subscription model.

Your statement is in error.

If their plans hinged on funding - which they didn't get - of course they'd be scaling back. Admitting this is what makes it not a scam.

Unattributed assertion contrary to the referenced URL that I included, would you post the cite to enable me to correct my statement?

Thank you in advance.
