Does your solar feed into the Gateway or your main panel? My understanding is if it feeds into the Gateway, where it would charge the CT batteries during an outage, that's not supported yet.

My installation is pending.
You're right, they feed directly into the main panel and just offset via net metering.

My electrician gave us the new pebbled-look electrical panel door today.

Tesla Cybertruck Powershare update from Tesla (10/16/24): activation wait period, Powerwall, solar, backup switch Powershare Door Shatter

I couldn't make the Spoiler button work... So, scroll down a bit.

He set the door on the ground and it shattered. Luckily, he had a spare in his truck. Sorry, next customer...

Had my cyberbeast for months - this merit company called and I told them I did not need the PowerShare unit as I have a large back up generator with auto switch installed and preferred the $2500 which I will use for the aux battery later this year.

they said they had no way of helping me make this credit election.
So so far no communications from Tesla and I don’t have a credit anywhere that I can find.

1) how do you make the credit election?
2) where can I see this credit on the Tesla app to verify the credit has been issued for the $2,500?

getting anyone at Tesla to talk to you is near impossible- they are perhaps over automated. Even the service center is not help.

"2025" for those of us with Powerwalls kinda sucks. It's suitably vague in Tesla-speak to mean it could be a year (or more) off.
Right. This blows my mind if it's supposedly a simple software/firmware update? Startup behavior from a $680B company.

Qmerit SUCKS.

My brother is an electrician, has around a dozen guys at his company. Couldn't get more than an intro from Qmerit to get certified, Tesla is giving him the run around as well.

So they lined up an electrician another state and 6 hours away (one way) to come install mine. Quote was wrong, so I asked them to fix (didn't accept)...then a few weeks later...

"Hey can I come next week to install ya?" "Sure...but the quote isn't ready" "No worries..." "OK?"

Guy and his helper come, do the install, won't activate. They used the wrong comms cable (not RS485) and said Qmerit nor Tesla told them they need to use that specifically vs typical comms cable for things like fire alarm, locks, etc. So I have a charger that works, a powershare that's useless, and neither on my account. And Qmerit wants $4300 IMMEDIATLY for something I didn't even approve.

I'm not against paying the dude for his time and per-diam...about 4 hours of total work for both. But this is rediciousl. I sent a very dissatisfied email to Qmerit accounts receivable, and it was forwarded to their "Tesla Success Team". Told them I wasn't paying until I had a functional system.

I'd even told the electrician he could ship me the right cable, I'd run it, and he could activate it remotely (Tesla tech alluded to this being a-ok) and he was cool with it. I'm no longer cool with it.

I don't have any of those. I managed to get a hold of someone from Tesla and I'm supposed to be getting a call back today (hopefully).
My electrician was back out this morning. We went through the registration process again (scanning the QR code in the panel) and he was prompted with a few things in the Tesla One app. Everything is now working on my install.

I had a feeling it was an issue on the Tesla side, something apparently didn’t fully register properly the first time. Frustrating that Tesla was virtually no help at all.

Holy crap. That's a pain. I feel bad having my electrician come out again. The 1st time he came out, it wasn't working because of a firmware update.

Did you have to do a factory reset?

I had a local electrician install my PowerShare (Gateway and Universal Wall Charger) last week for $1246 (some wires, conduit and labor charge of $130 an hour with two electricians). Tesla shipped the system directly to me when I placed my order using the $2500 voucher. After the installation and activation with the Tesla One app, we also tried to test the system by throwing the main breaker - nothing. I called Tesla Support and no one could give me a straight answer about the Tesla app update with the ability to toggle on PowerShare. 3 days later, it showed up on my phone app and on my CT display. Toggled PowerShare ON, tested and it works fine.
Was it a Tesla approved electrician? And not through Qmerit?

Yes, a Tesla Certified Electrician, not QMerit, but apparently his company is going to have to start going through QMerit even if a customer contacts them directly. Makes no sense. He’d prefer to see electricians get an additional license/certification - he’s not happy with how the quoting process has had to change at his company now having to go through QMerit.

The one installer on the forums said the fire alarm 16/4 wires would work as the communication wire? no?

It's not "120 ohm" wire, so Tesla said it may work but may stop at any time. This makes no sense to me.

But this electrician did 6 other installs, many in Jackson Wyoming. If those installs stop working, there's going to be some very upset, very rich, people complaining.

Thanks! I'll look into and give it a try. Tesla said that they'll get back to me in about 15-21 days and that was 6 days ago...

Wow, 15-21 days seems a bit excessive and you never know if that’s on “Elon Time”!

Not a "Tesla Approved" electrician. I think they are referred to as "Certified". Any good electrician can install the Gateway and Universal Wall Charger. They hook up whole home backup Generacs and transfer switches all of the time. Why would I choose to use Qmerit and their certified electrical company 2 hours away and pay over $2500 more?
