Rodents look for safe/warm places to nest. Additionally, they’re always chewing to keep their teeth growth in check, not to mention any attraction to materials that smell/taste like food. Unfortunately you just have to give them something even more appealing than what might be in your truck: keep baited traps around/under the vehicle until (or even long after) you eliminate the problem.
Ditto.
I just had $600 worth of electrical damage from rodents in 17MS in September. I have never had rodent damage in any vehicle until this year.
I purchase peppermint discs on Amazon for $20 and hopefully will do the trick.

Good advice, I already started pulling plants and bushes near the driveway and elsewhere on the property.
You can select some that don't encourage small critters; things with more open branches, bulbs, trees. Also if you encourage meso predators like raccoons and cats to have paths that come along there, also if you have tall poles that aren't shaded you could create perches for owls and hawks.

Anything to make them less comfortable and encourage the kinds of critters that will outcompete or predate.

You could even install a block of decon inside the workings of the vehicle. I did that with a mini excavator I have after discovering a mouse living in it. Works. They can’t resist the stuff.
Yeah, gotta make sure it's inaccessible! Also, if animals eat poisoned animals, they will also die, so make sure it's like that block deep in the vehicle: somewhere the mice won't come out and kill your predators.

Losing a predator will do the opposite of what you want!

I keep a small block of d-CON under both my cars in my garage. Works perfectly. Be careful if you have pets. That stuff obviously tastes good and dogs will eat it and die. I use this type of stuff in a lot of places. It’s not terribly effective IME with multiple houses and I see them eating a lot of it. it’s also not as toxic to pets as you might think. If you really want to get rid of mice you need a combo of bucket traps, electronic traps, and deterrents like peppermint/garlic oil based spray which are irritating to rodents. But in general for vehicles since you can’t close off all cavities it’s more of an issue of choosing where to keep your vehicle and getting unlucky. I’ve had a few rodent issues but one was a squirrel living under the hood (in the SOUTH) that met an unfortunate demise when the car was started and it got caught in a belt. The other were mice that moved into the spare tire of my Subaru because I left it parked for long periods of time but they didn’t eat anything.

This is from d con’s website regarding cholecalciferol which is Vitamin D3 (aka d con):
In case of direct contact with the poison, a 20-kilogram dog needs to eat at least 0.5 oz of the substance to get a toxic dose.

My mom’s dog almost died from eating d-CON. The vet pumped the dog’s stomach. It was a small dog and maybe a large amount of d-CON. Despite that experience the dog still tried to get into the d-CON in my mom’s basement, so she decided that isn’t really an option with a dog in the house. A friend of mine had a similar experience. Also a small dog.

I’m out in the country, but I don’t get that many mice. For the ones I do get, the d-CON has been very effective.

That sux dude.

When I lived in Seattle, full of rats, i took my Lexus in to Toyota and they showed me evidence i had a few rats in an out around my wiring but they didnt eat anything thankfully.

Lexus did offe to install and added a roden proof features to the LExus - whatever that was. A set of pieces to blockj common openings.

Perhaps you need to find a winter region mechanic who knows what to do if Tesla doesnt.

So they (Lexus ) knew of vulnerability and designed & manufactured pieces.

For Lexus the pieces to block common openings is an OPTION !!!! ( NOT standard )

crap crap crap.

Why you should not trust

Similar to Boeing, safety is an extra cost option.

Spraying a natural pepper mix of water and soap under the skid plate should deter them or you can do a dry powder like red pepper ?️ or cat ? urine

When Elon was soliciting design ideas from r the Cybertruck I said "Make it rodent proof". Sigh. He didn't listen.......

Others on this board have installed a CAT. ?

Rodent problem solved!
Your (and the cat's) experience may vary, DYODD.

That was my vehicle and cat… I suspect a rodent was involved and that’s what caused my cat to enter the Cybertruck. If you watch my video, you’ll see the cat was searching under our vehicles just minutes after being rescued, as if she was looking for something. She is an avid hunter chasing down mice And squirrels on a daily basis, and the temperature had just started getting cold where I live.
