No. Their explanation was that hitting it with the sledgehammer caused damage that result in the failure on stage. That’s what Franz said.

When Elon told him to hit it again harder that’s when their fate was sealed. I believe that they had only tested the sledgehammer strike on a standalone door before that.
It's speculation on why the glass broke for the demonstration, even Elon would admit that. But the point they were making is the glass is not ordinary automotive glass. It's stronger. And that's true whether the demo was a success or a failure.

I got a positive "nice truck" comment as I was opening the frunk at the grocery store yesterday. It was from a 40ish year old man with his wife. I think there are a lot of people out there that are really grateful that Elon is finally exposing the media for the lying SOBs they are, because this guy didn't look like the typical "woke" type that will cry foul whenever someone stands up for the truth or calls a spade a spade.

Was sitting in parking lot waiting for my wife. As she walked out of the store a woman employee having a smoke said :
‘What is that f-ing ugly thing?” My wife replied “that’s my ride”. The woman apologized and then asked to check it out… she was impressed (or being nice after the initial comment …)

I usually try to give a thumbs up to any CT's as I pass in my Lightning. Most of the time they don't even try to make eye contact. On the other hand I don't try to make eye contact with other ford truck owners.

Never understood the animosity toward CT's. Jealousy, envy? I don't think much of the Hummer EV but never felt the need to to ridicule or insult them.

Last longer than what? Not longer than the hard frickin' steel! It's still just plastic and will wear out quickly getting muddy and driving through brush, taking rock hits on the highway and exposed to the sun. That's what I hated about the fragile clear coat on my F-150, I had to cringe every time I drove on a road that was overgrown. The bare metal of the Cybertruck is proving to be impervious. Everytime I wash it after an excursion I'm amazed how nicely it cleans up.

It makes no sense to protect a hard, durable surface that requires no UV protection, with something soft and damage prone, especially when people like the sheen of the raw metal.

I'm not trying to convince you because it's personal preference, I'm just disagreeing with your view of what makes a good truck. A good truck to me is non-fussy and worry-free. And metal will always look better than plastic to me. I'd rather take the $6 thousand in cash and burn it in a fire pit. ?
Originally I had thought about getting a PPF wrap, but once I saw it in person, I quickly changed my mind. The cold shiny brushed steel look is incredible, like something from outer space. Why cover it with something that will cause the steel to corrode? And if someone keys a side panel, that'll cost you a cool $1000, plus installation time. No thanks! Raw steel is rugged and industrial looking, like a moon or Mars rover should look.

Many of the same responses. All but 2 positive in 2 months. One finger on interstate in PA and recently got egged while sitting in CT while my wife was picking up mail at post office. The best reactions are from kids 8-15 years old. One neighbor (we like near lake) said “when are you putting that boat in the water.”
Who egged it?

Ok. One of the guests that was there that day who was an influencer was quoted saying he saw the ball get thrown at the truck at least 50 times and was surprised window broke on stage.

https://www.instagram.com/share/_cNI1h92m this is pretty much the same type of person that hassles me about my truck.
Haha, what an annoying old hag. Glad she hates it so much, it parks rent free in her mind.

These people used to judge my Range Rovers too. Too young to own such an expensive vehicle. It's the same shit with these haters. Just jealousy of others.

I had an extended test drive a week ago right before placing my order and had a guy in a Range Rover race up, cut me off, get on his breaks and flip me off. For literally no reason. Then he swerved into a gated community of $2.5M and up homes.
It has nothing to do with 'blue' or 'politics'.

I had a Mercedes SUV do that on the freeway near Walnut Grove on Friday afternoon. And I drive a twelve year old Mazda 3!

Some people are just angry.

The day I picked mine up a couple months ago, I stopped at a supercharger to fill it up and get some lunch.

I was followed into the lot by a car with a couple and their kid who said their kid is obsessed with Cybertrucks, and asked if he could look inside.

Kids LOVE the truck and I let everyone sit inside and beep the horn. They crack up when it plays La Cucaracha!

Someone else said this on this forum and I completely agree: Kids and teens love it, kids over 70 love it too. Most women have no clue what it is. Very political extremes hate it.

99% reactions are positive and you ignore the others. The funniest reaction I got the first day I had it was “did you make that?”
