I am about to light mine tonight. I bought some 3m command strip hooks. What made you go the scotch tape route? I am over thinking this like I always do. I'm not sure if I should continue with 3m adhesive or use scotch tape instead.

Fewer adhesive spots to apply instead of more? Easier cleanup?

@FriscoCybertruck I always see you parked in the same spot in the parking garage. Just pulled the trigger on my own Cybertruck. Getting it wrapped in gloss black as we speak.

Question for those who have Christmas lights on their trucks. Can you recommended a light strand and attachments (hooks, magnets, command strips, etc.) that are easy to put on and work well?

I don’t want to go crazy. But my kids want to do it, so I thought it would be fun.

I get asked that alot- the Cybertruck has right angles with openings that make a natural hook for the lights so not alot of tape needed. I used clear heavy duty packaging tape and at 50 MPH no movement!!! Just use the natural openings that the beautiful angles provide to secure the lights and they won't go anywhere!!!!

I would think that on bare stainless only, adhesive hooks on the stainless (not the temporary ones, but stronger, need to probably use Goof Off solvent to remove them, just don't let the solvent touch any of the plastic trim) would do the least harm and would hold better than magnets. Hooks that actually clip closed might be best, but those are hard to find in clear, so use white an alternative.
EXCEPTION: With a wrap, I just wouldn't do it, but if I was determined, I'd use magnetic hooks as far less likely to damage the wrap than adhesive hooks (and the solvent to remove them), and not drive with the hooks and lights up, which favors something minimal that can be put up and taken down quickly.

Except with permission (like in a parade), I would certainly NOT drive with the Christmas lights on. But with closable hooks (or rings if they're big enough to thread the lights through) one might be able to do up to 40 MPH or so with the lights in place but turned off, and have them stay put, if one did a careful job of putting them up and used enough hooks. (and then perhaps turn them on at the destination)

I'm not doing that myself, but best of luck to those who do.

Coming from someone who has been driving with lights since Thanksgiving (yes Thanksgiving) I can personally attest to using heavy duty packaging tape and accidentally hitting 70 MPH- and no blowing lights in the wind.

Packaging tape on stainless steel- over 2 weeks and removing leaves no residue, so everyone can breath a sigh of relief.....after all....stainless steel.

True Story- yes while technically not legal for lights, I was driving with lights on and a police car pulled up next to me. I was nervous until they gave me "the nod". Second time "the glance" and then nothing. I want to say since it's a novelty and new, police officers aren't so apt to show your their light show in your rear view mirror

I started in the back and went directly to the front quarter panel, then front door, then back to the front quarter panel, back up and around the A-Pillar, down the center (but avoid the camera), do the rear door, then back up the middle to the top roof line, then back to the rear quarter panel. Each roll was 300 (white lights). I ran an extension cord up the side of the tonneau cover to power the roof (then covered it with black electrical tape to hide it). Took 4 hours total LOL.
