This isn't correct.

it would crush anything that fell into it opening or closing and probably violate NHTSA's safety rules.

Not that I stick my fingers into it, but sheesh.

I was curious and read the description of what they were using thise tools for...

People doing things at home aren't in a time crunch and don't need a fancy power tool to cut urethane glue. That tool is just an industrial version of an oscillating cutter. You're not supposed to be cutting the glass!

At least read the instructions before you assert what someone needs to have.

Indeed, we have google AND YouTube video of equalizer. Put me in coach, I’m ready!…well, after breezer (or someone…) makes a cutoff switch and someone else demos this successfully without breaking the glass.

Of course, now looking at the removal instructions, if the glass can be reused (seems possible, less likely to break on removal than a large windshield) I’d rather turn the datum’s into re-usable attachment points and reuse the same glass with a simple 3D printed bracket and some gasket. Maybe use send-cut-send for an additional copy out of lexan for a few bucks with a hole for venting.

I can’t tell, but looks like you have both options - open window, opaque abs, clear abs, and a mesh with air hose connection. Would probably attach a insect screen to the mesh insert for camping.

Same question…would really like to see a non-destructive method to remove the rear glass.
Same question it looks like the ordering hasn’t been updated to change from the standard removable glass. I don’t think there was an opaque option I think it’s this new perforated one and or the standard set up for them. But I sure would like to know.

Crissa, I was primarily pointing out the link to Tesla’s service manual to the person who had the question and others who were unaware of it.

That last little bit was an attempt at humor and - ironically- was intended to show that I had read the instructions. (In this group there might even be some well-heeled, overconfident, first-time DIYer who would buy Tesla’s recommended power tool and accidentally misuse it.)

Looks great!, do you know if the stock glass is considered structural? If so, how does your insert compare? Other than that concern, I think this is a great solution, great job!

+1 for a rear sliding window, bonus points if powered, or full roll down. But I would take this solution if it was removed from the inside and don't want the cage. And about 1/2 the cost without a cage. $200 for mosquito netting, just hang some there with some magnets for about $20.

Great news, Breezer windows just finished designing their removable rear window system so that you can sleep in the bed of the truck in comfort.

https://breezerwindows.com/product/tesla/

The special thing about this design is that it can be purchased with a hose setup to push 2nd-row air conditioning into the bed while the truck is in camp mode.

This is an awesome solution for camping and it will go well with the systems I have next to put into the cyber truck, like a bed, refrigerator, microwave, tools, and accessories.

Below are the latest design photographs and I will be adding to these images with more photos and videos as soon as I get mine installed.

I plan on crossing the country with my Cybertruck with this design in 2025.

Glad they finally did it. The addition of AC duct for camping and pets in the back is fantastic. They reached out to me when designing their prototype. They decided on going with a perforated grill instead of a pass through to alleviate any potential law suits of heads, legs, or arms (kids & pets) getting pinned between to tonneau cover and window frame. My biggest question is where do you go to get work done? A normal window installer or Tesla?

Knowing what the requirements are and process is key to knowing if you're being charged the installation price, how much time and what sort of hazards it has - even if you're unable to do it yourself.

Which yeah, if it's glued in place rather than held in by a gasket, that may be tougher than most will handle. I don't do most of the work on my motorcycle for the same reason - I don't have a garage, nor all the tools to make it quick and reliable. A prepared shop has the tire mounting tools to do it in seconds.

Really like the concept, but the fact that my cover leaks at the top--in fact creating water marks on the rear window and bed wall below it--would make for a potential wet mess inside. I've seen one video on here about fixing that leak (husband and wife team), but it was not a process for the faint at heart.

I'm another vote for the opening rear window, especially if automatic.

If a person uses a high strength fishing line with dowels wrapped around the string pushed behind the glass and do a sawing motion all the way around the seal, it will cut through the sealant and release the window. .
I want to be able to make a removable window. Maybe with a seal on the metal and a way to lock the window in for easy removal when required.

That's the old way of doing it! If the adhesive is structural, this might not work. Might have to use a bass string or something.

could you climb thru it? not sure if I would try...
why can't I just use the bed outlet to power a heater? for summer, I'd just crack the tonneau cover at night.
