I certainly hope so, it was a core promise of the CT: 800V 350kw charging. It won't ever really catch up to the Silverado because Tesla cheaped out on the battery size so Chevy can add 300 miles and still be in the middle of the charging curve all the way. CT only gets 220 miles or so between...
CT has a charging problem. It is slow, way slow. The Silverado can add 200 miles in 20 minutes and be on its way. The CT will take 40+ minutes to do the same (both starting at ~30 miles range left).
I generally have great respect for your comments on here, but the equation is most certainly not "pay 2x as much for 2x range." The average price per kwh for a battery pack in an EV is under $130 per kwh. The pack cost of increasing the battery from 123 to 185 (50%) is 62 x $130 = $8,000...
Sorry. but posts like this are just exasperating. Most of us here have been driving EVs for many years. I have #6 & 7 in the garage. We know with great precision how much range we need for where we drive with our type of loads in the sort of weather we experience on the routes we take. And, NO...
One thing for sure: reaction on X and on this thread confirms that even big Tesla / CT fans (me included fwiw) overwhelmingly agree Tesla shortchanged the range on CT! The $100k+ price tag for it is just salt in the proverbial wound. I hope Elon is taking note.
R1T is a Tacoma competitor playing into a 500k per year market in the US. If it can hit a 10% market share in the mid-sized market, it will increase its sales by 400% vs 2023 (~12k R1Ts)
The full-sized truck market is 2.2 million in US so CT is playing into a domestic market that is 4X thee...
Tesla did the really stupid thing and short-changed the battery by 20 kwh. If they just bumped by 20 kwh they would have added a solid 50+ miles of range, handily beat most competitors and been close enough to the Chevy that is does not matter. The incremental pack cost is only $3k for 20 kwh...
Really nice. I have been invited to configure an RST first edition but only in black (srsly?). At this point I am sticking with the Rivian, but GM did exactly what it said fit would and then a bit. Tesla's multi-year distraction on a niche vehicle like CyberTruck is already costing it dearly in...
Random rant: What is it with these reviewers and this BS label "lifestyle truck"? Edmunds doing the same. What exactly is a "lifestyle" pickup according to the truck-use legitimacy police like Doug Demuro and Edmunds? Is it just "lifestyle" pickup use if you need it to carry stuff smaller than...
So far my expert dealer has discerned: "GM has not officially released exact pricing ... it would come in the RS trim, or WT trim. Manager says there are limited color options ..." They are going to send me the build options (and, yes, I know this is for the RST, my dealer does not).
n.b. one...
So far I have learned that the dealer does not know what options, colors, etc. are available or what the price is. As usual, GM foiled by the incompetence of its dealer network.
