  1. Real world range

This topic is killing me right now. Tesla's just put this in front of me: I've been invited today to order a Foundation-series and those figures are for an AWD to be delivered in the February-to-April time frame. I've been itching to buy it for years. I thought I was about 88-thousandth...
  2. Range Extender Battery Pack increases range to 470+ miles and costs $16K 🔋

Eleven pages into this thread, I finally see somebody framing one of the most important use-cases for a range extender. Much appreciated! Seems like half this thread is just people expressing disappointment that it could have reason to exist, might cost real money, and take up room. I'd like...
  3. Tesla Engineer Saying No to Europe

I think there's hope, but not near term hope. The EU has a bunch of regs that speak to pedestrian safety and a big part of that involves designing the front end of the car to help people survive an impact with a moving vehicle. The shape of the front end and what it is made of both factor...
  4. Everyone stay calm. Keep your order until things settle.

I find that I generally agree with the OP, but I get that it depends on where you're standing. IMO this is in many ways a re-run of the Model 3 launch. If you were disappointed that you couldn't get a Model 3 for $35k at launch or were worried about range, you walked, either to get your $1k...
  5. 🍻 CyberBeer + CyberStein Limited Edition Set Giveaway! [Enter Here]

What a briilliant idea! Here's the one that my CT will be replacing: It is exciting to see that so many are posting not-pickups on this thread. It hadn't occurred to me that Cybertruck could actually expand the US truck market.
  6. Rear-view "mirror" screen used when towing

I have two points to offer on that, which don't quite appose each other, I think. On one hand, there's just the sad lack of radical suspension innovation on the part of legacy half-ton manufacturers. I was at a museum recently for a special event, and some of their exhibitions are about...
  7. Rear-view "mirror" screen used when towing

My own small experience suggests pros and cons. On one hand, the center display is big and you can _really_ see the details. Nice! On the other, that center display isn't just for the driver and has a lot of other tasks. If your passenger is made sad because there is a big real-time view...
  8. Rear-view "mirror" screen used when towing

Ah, maybe a poor turn of phrase on my part. It has also been described as "auto-leveling." Some of the current F-150 trim levels have LED projector headlights. The beams aren't fixed - they can be manipulated in both azimuth and elevation electronically. It isn't much of a surprise, I...
  9. Rear-view "mirror" screen used when towing

I currently have Ford's setup for this. It is kind of amusing to see how much dedicated hardware is involved. The results are pretty helpful, but Tesla should be able to improve upon them easily. The Ford comes with a camera in the tailgate that points straight down at the hitch, and another...
  10. Tesla sees critical supplier get snatched up by GM

Lambert does love the FUD-for-clicks trade. Every once in a while he posts something really stupid like this - I can't read his blog anymore for just that reason. "Now we learn that GM is also dipping its toes in the space, and it is directly affecting Tesla by doing so." Well, really...
  11. So the Cybertruck fits in a garage (at under 19ft long)... But was the size reduction worth it for you?

I think it is a good thing on balance. Those of us who live in sometimes-harsh climates and have a garage and want to keep our toys a little warmer/cooler/cleaner/less-old-looking. For now, anyway. The F-150 super-crew short bed just barely fits in my garage. At 110 degrees and 4500 feet...
  12. Custom vanity license plate for your Cybertruck?

Too cryptic, I suppose, but try base 10. A little-known Easter egg reference.
  13. Custom vanity license plate for your Cybertruck?

I am pretty happy with mine (even though it will have to ride around on my F-150 hybrid until the Cybertruck arrives)
  14. How big do you WANT the Cybetruck to be?

Not picking on Ford, though their quality problems are matched only by their supply chain problems. I got the Ford because the CT has been delayed over and over again. The F150 Powerboost is today’s obtainable state of the art, IMO, and I needed something today. The CT, sadly, is tomorrow‘s...
  15. How big do you WANT the Cybetruck to be?

I just got an F-150 Powerboost with the short (5'7") bed. It fits in my garage - barely. I would like the Cybertruck to be no more than 2" longer than a 2023 short bed F-150. Otherwise it will be sleeping outside. Also I need to have it before the Ford drops dead.
