  1. 3,400 miles towing a camping trailer w/ Cybertruck -- 19' Airstream (~4,500 lbs) to see solar eclipse

The limitation is you have to eat fairly close to where you are charging. With ICE you can fill-up in 5 or so minutes and then eat anywhere in the town. Charging at home is a great convenience.

What gauge is the wire in the 7-pin on the CT side? My Jeep has an 18 gauge wire and so it is a trickle charge in reality, but did maintain the state of charge I started with.

Thanks for sharing this data. Gives great insight into towing and expected range between charges.
  4. 3,400 miles towing a camping trailer w/ Cybertruck -- 19' Airstream (~4,500 lbs) to see solar eclipse

Don't currently own an EV, but the one aspect I don't like about the limited charging options is that although you have 20-50 minutes to kill (depending on state of charge at beginning and target state of charge at end) is the limited food choices near the chargers. Once charging stations are as...
  5. 3,400 miles towing a camping trailer w/ Cybertruck -- 19' Airstream (~4,500 lbs) to see solar eclipse

I am assuming the CT doesn't charge the trailer while traveling. Do you have solar on the roof of the Airstream?
  6. 3,400 miles towing a camping trailer w/ Cybertruck -- 19' Airstream (~4,500 lbs) to see solar eclipse

My lifted Jeep Rubicon with 35's and 5.13 gears gets 13.5 mpg towing a far less aerodynamic trailer at 80% of my tow rating and that is towing from Arizona to Utah or Colorado with lots of elevation gains at 65 mph. It would take 13 fill-ups to make the same trip requiring a total of 90-minutes...
  7. I bet the CTs in show rooms are roped off solely due to fingerprints

There are folks who are day 1 or 2 CT reservation holders who were certainly disappointed at the specs and pricing of the final CT. $30K price bump and only 65% of the claimed range is a huge miss by Tesla in my opinion I won’t qualify for the EV tax credit in 2024 and still think the value...
  8. I bet the CTs in show rooms are roped off solely due to fingerprints

I have a Hellayella Jeep Rubicon and the great thing about the color is the Arizona pinstripes don’t show after wheeling on tight brushy trails. Will be interesting to see what a CT looks like after going through brush laden trails.
  9. Reuters Reporting that Tesla can only build 24,000 CTs per year due to 4680 battery production issues

Reuters is reporting that the issues with 4680 production are currently limiting production to a run rate of 24,000 per year. "At the moment, Tesla's Austin factory takes about 16 weeks to make 10 million 4680 cells, according to Reuters calculations based on figures from Tesla, verified by the...
  10. Leno's Cybertruck Deep Dive Video... Sueded Steering Wheel + Wade Mode Driving in 2.7' Water + Light Bar Prewire

Owning a Jeep and listening to people complain about the whistle that comes with a light bar was enough to convince me to avoid one. The CyberTruck is not a Jeep and is therefore far more sensitive to aerodynamic changes and a light bar is going to add drag and probably screw up the overall...
  11. Leno's Cybertruck Deep Dive Video... Sueded Steering Wheel + Wade Mode Driving in 2.7' Water + Light Bar Prewire

My Jeep Rubicon has a 3.5" lift and 35s and I can drive in 3 feet of water. A Jeep, Land Rover or Bronco don't have an arbitrary time limit either.
  12. Hypothetical off-road range decrease?

In the write-up of Rivian driving in a desert race course their range went from 300 miles to 167 (with regen braking increasing the 137 miles to that number). I would figure a 50% loss as a rule of thumb. They had an additional 600 lbs above the stock 5900 lb curb weight to include water and an...
  13. What would prevent your purchase?

I ordered the twi-motor with FSD, but I have a 2019 Jeep Rubicon will take me places the CT won't be able to, can't take the top and doors off (done all year except summer in southern Arizona) and it is paid off. I do have a 2-3 year plan to simply convert the Jeep to BEV. Since it the most...
  14. Cybertruck Exoskeleton patent shows how it's a protection shield

Franz also did not hit the door very hard at all with it. A fear I have (and I am 52,000 in line) is the initial vehicles will be tested by a subset of society that may be closer to neanderthal man than homo sapiens or simply are jerks. I imagine seeing carnage with the number of these vehicles...
