I got too old while waiting the next underdeliver, over promised product from Elon (Mr. Hubris) Musk. I must report that the $100 was returned promptly.
Anyone expecting 500 miles of EPA-rated range is a super optimist. The CT has no published coefficient of drag that I know of. I don’t...
I happen to have spent 3 years studying EMP and the potential for impacting telecommunication networks. At the time there were several companies whose business it was to promote EMP to be a major threat to electronic equipment so that they could sell their consulting services to military...
3000 CTs per week translates to something like 4 million 4680s a week, maybe 200 million in a year. It took Tesla something like 16 weeks to build their first 10 million. That sounds like a major challenge for 2024. I hope they can pull it off. And the CT is not the only application for the...
Sorry, Ming Chi but you are hopelessly optimistic. Unlike the new Model Y, the CT is dedicated to have a structural battery populated with 4680 cells. I could be wrong but the structural battery design for the Model Y has been placed on hold because of a shortage of 4680s. Model Y production...
I wonder if the CT is locked into the structural battery design using 4680s, an option with problems that has disrupted the Model Y production with a fallback option to the 2170 battery pack in a “long range” version. The CT doesn’t have an alternative battery plan to my knowledge. Tell me...
Pardon my ignorance about vehicle structural design but don’t the stainless steel body parts need some kind of frame to attach to? The frameworks in the photo look less substantial (stampings?) than a traditional Tesla frame.
“Exoskeleton” seems valid in an automobile sense.
Unfortunately for...
3 hours sounds optimistic. I have a NEMA 14-50 outlet that can deliver up to about 9 kw. If I plug in my Model Y when it is down to say 30 kwh and charge it to 90 % , I will need about 42 kwh of added energy. That takes 5+ hours.
Lots of interesting concepts here.
Stationary wireless charging of electric busses is a reality at up to 300 kw; https://www.electrive.com/2021/07/14/momentum-delivers-300-kw-inductive-charging/
Version 3 Superchargers top out at 250 kw.
Wireless charging efficiency seems to exist over a...
Supposing the need 1200 or so 4680 cells for a basic battery pack with a capacity of maybe 80 kwh, a target yield of 99% would probably be in the ballpark, losing about 12 cells per pack. As volume requirements build, they will undoubtedly be looking to do better than that.
I expect that the...
If there is no electrolyte, I should think there would be no corrosion.
Disclosure: I have a metal on metal hip replacement (stainless steel and titanium) that is 14 years old. The “only” “potential” issue is cobalt and chromium leaching into one’s bloodstream…
