  1. Update from Elon: Cybertruck production starting late 2022 and volume production in 2023

The delay doesn't concern me as much as how many they can produce in a year. My reservation is in the 600000's and I knew it would be 3-5 years out before they contact me. However, if Tesla has newer, grander plans to build half a million CTs per year then they may be calling me in 3-4 years...
  2. Update from Elon: Cybertruck production starting late 2022 and volume production in 2023

Same here! Wife and I discussed this and she asked if I was going to trade in the Y for CT... I glanced at her and noticed impending sadness so I told her she would keep HER car. Yes I do have a happy life!
  3. Let’s Put a Moratorium on Cybertruck News Until Tesla Actually Builds It

While MY may be rolling out the door in a few months in an unfinished factory, CT will be manufactured afterwards. Building the factory is delayed, 4680 is delayed, New Gen 4 computer... Worse case the delays are ~year or less. But with the delays we get a better CT than we were shown a few...
  4. Article: Tesla’s Cybertruck delay may have been caused by design finalization

Regarding the delay of the CT: Factory is not ready, 4680 factory is not ready, A little more engineering is needed for the 4680, and the design will never be finalized. On-going changes and improvements or workarounds are the norm for Musk led companies.
  5. Article: Tesla’s Cybertruck delay may have been caused by design finalization

I saw a discovery special with Josh Gates and Christopher Lloyd a few months ago where they had a "time machine" on a model X. The joke in that scene was Josh asking "Doc" where or how he had a time machine and the Doc replied that it was an OTA update. Clearly a joke for Tesla folks...
  6. 304 stainless steel piece received. Taking partial delivery of Cybertruck/ Mobsters are threatening to return Cybertruck piece by piece

When bending annealed SS (3mm thick) you typically will require a 1-2 T (Thickness) internal bend radius. Externally this is a 6-9mm radius yet the observed bend radii on the CT seem much tighter. Since the 30x will be ~ half hard I expect there will be internal cuts where the shallow bends...
  7. Actual finish of stainless steel exoskeleton?

The Gateway arch is 304 SS plate. So it is almost 60 years old. Yes, there is some discoloration... https://www.wmf.org/blog/threat-gateway-arch%E2%80%99s-stainless-steel-skin but for the most part it looks like it did 58 years ago. However, if you live along the ocean or salted roads you can...
  8. 304 stainless steel piece received. Taking partial delivery of Cybertruck/ Mobsters are threatening to return Cybertruck piece by piece

I agree that the dozen or so exterior panels are both cosmetic and structural but structurally they are attached to an internally stamped/welded frame as we have seen in that Tesla photo. What does NOT appear to be the case is that the skin of the CT is one folded "origami" piece of 3-4mm SS...
  9. 304 stainless steel piece received. Taking partial delivery of Cybertruck/ Mobsters are threatening to return Cybertruck piece by piece

I think I assumed that the entire outside surface was going to be origami. Upon reviewing photos I now have changed my thinking. The CT appears to use multiple external "cosmetic" panels attached to stamped internal framing. This body will attach to the castings/structural battery. So this...
  10. Cyber Truck with unlimited range!

I am not sure about downhill but my dad used to tell me that his walk to school and back home were both uphill and in the snow!
  11. Cybertruck’s stainless steel supplier to start operations at TX plant by Fall 2021: report

1 square meter of 3mm thick SS is 24kg or 52.8 lbs. I used a square meter because it is close to the external surface area of a CT door. But there will be internal bracing, hinges, window, and mechanisms so perhaps ~60 lbs is coorect for the skin and ~100-175 pounds for the door assembly...
  12. 304 stainless steel piece received. Taking partial delivery of Cybertruck/ Mobsters are threatening to return Cybertruck piece by piece

A flat blank for the body or body components are likely too wide to ship. So will the mill ship extra wide coils (annealed) and then have the rollers at Austin to flatten and cold work? Perhaps they will also have the graining processes, passivating and perhaps electrofinishing to remove the...
  13. 304 stainless steel piece received. Taking partial delivery of Cybertruck/ Mobsters are threatening to return Cybertruck piece by piece

The Tesla 30x SS is probably much closer to 304 than 316 and will be work hardened (Squeezed through rollers). It is likely that the hardness will be "half hard" as this is about the maximum hardness obtainable for 304. This brings up an interesting topic IMO. Will the mill ship annealed SS...
  14. Anyone else concerned with people doing stupid things to test the Cybertruck?

I am sure there will be an aftermarket micro drone swarm that will fly out of the vault whenever the CT is assaulted and swarm around the idiot taking photos and spraying a dye/odorant/irritant plus a few dozen micro-trackers.
  15. How will the CT Robotaxis charge themselves?

I would be concerned about robot tippers in the midwest.
