seems like having a three-press option for enabling a more aggressive charging curve would be nice:

Welcome to the SC stall. I want all the kW!
Okkkkk…you can do this but it does this to the battery: (this). are you sure? YES!
But are you REALLY sure???? YEEESSSS!

500kW unlocked.
lol 500kWH unlocked and keep the fire department on standby.

another tangent - im totally cool with the charge throttling. but I recently learned about FSD/AI “shadow mode” which is - on all data share enabled teslas, all of them - fsd basically runs all the time even if not being used. when its not being used its predicting human driver behavior in the background and if theres a big conflict in what it would do it sents limited telemetry/video data to tesla so that it can be evaluated.

this is one of those amazing/scary features of AI. what im wondering is what its doing to the FSD computer to be constantly running in this way. are there read-write cycles that are imparting “wear and tear” into the computer? or is it so minimal that its not going to make the computer fail sooner.?

If you plug in for 30s you might get 500kw but if that only gives you 1% charge it doesn't matter.
Average charging speed over the session is what matters, how long does it take to charge so you can get on your way. The average is about 123kw in ideal scenarios for a full charge, which is about 1/4 of the advertised 500kw speed

Simplest terms.
500kw advertised charging rate = 20min charge time
123kw actual charging rate = 90 min charge time

90min charge time is not the end of the world as it isn't always necessary, but it is miles from the advertised.
Seems like a true average of 123kw would give you 123kw/h in one hour... literally. Full battery 1% to 100% in one hour.

I would say no. It isn't AI but FSD as it has been since the beginning. The car is always going to do predictive analysis in case it needs to intervene. Think "Automatic Emergency Braking" or "Lane Assist". The part that will wear down due to updating Tesla with FSD Deltas (good and bad) is the modem, I would think. Well, the radio, I suppose. It's all magic data stuff.

I haven't seen any alarming trends in the computer bits wearing out and Tesla's been doing this since around 2012 or so. It's not a thing to really worry about.

So the first three pages are about ANC and the last four are about towing and charging. Got it.
In the past, the mods have cleaned up things like this ... that does not seem to be happening here and now though.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Almost every post devolves into something else. One of the more frustrating things about this site. I'm surprised the Tacoma and Ford lightning guys haven't popped in to talk about sales numbers yet.

I got 2026.2.9.1 last night and I do have the option available. 2026 CyberBeast. Haven’t had a drive at freeway speeds yet, through my neighborhood I couldn’t hear a difference with it on or off.

Interesting.....I have 2026.2.9.1 and don't have that either. My CT is a 2024 AWD Foundation, so maybe we don't have the HW

Funny feeling that ANC might have been a feature(Cyber scallops) they installed later(after FS) Has anyone with a FS gotten ANC? I'm on 2026.2.9.1 and no ANC.

There was an issue with early Model S computers "wearing out". The software was logging aggressively to the internal SSD storage, which has limited write-cycles. It would take a few years, but eventually the computer would misbehave in odd ways once the SSD was no longer usable.

The software fix was easy, but the SSD was just a chip on the motherboard, so the whole computer required replacement.

Sure, if I filled two warehouses with computers, with all of them idling in one but running at 100% in the other, there would probably be a slightly higher failure rate of the ones being stressed. I wouldn't consider it a significant problem, though.

NOTE TO THE THREAD POLICE: This is on-topic. The computer manages ANC
