Why is it so hard to find a coating that actually works in the US? (A question from Nihon Coating)

Hey Cybertruck community,

We are Nihon Coating, a manufacturer based in Japan. We’ve been watching the US market closely, and we’ve noticed a lot of skepticism lately. We wanted to open up a truly honest dialogue about it.

1. Have you been burned by "Ceramic" marketing?

In Japan, we take material science very seriously, but we’ve seen many products in the US labeled as "Ceramic" that are essentially just temporary waxes or weak SiO2 sprays.

We’ve seen the doubts some of you have about our product, SILAZANE 50. We want to be clear: it is a true polysilazane ceramic coating, specifically designed for the kind of chemical bonding that raw stainless steel requires. But we get it—if you’ve been disappointed by a product that promised a "diamond shine" and disappeared after two weeks, why should you trust the next one?

Have you ever used a coating that was nothing like the ads promised? What went wrong?

2. Is "Over-Promising" just the norm in the US?

Does it feel like this happens a lot in the US detailing market? From our perspective, there seems to be a flood of "miracle" DIY products that prioritize flashy marketing over actual durability.

3. A favor: Check our website and be honest with us.

We want to make sure we aren't part of the problem. If you have a moment, could you look at our website, silazane50usa.com?

We want to know: Is there anything on our site that makes you doubt our credibility? * Does the messaging feel too "hyped"?

• Is there technical info missing that you need to see?

• Does it feel like just another "As Seen on TV" brand?

We aren't here to just "sell"—we’re here to learn what you’re actually looking for. We want to know what it takes to earn the trust of the Cybertruck community.

What’s your biggest "dealbreaker" when it comes to a new coating product or brand?

@silazane50 if I want to protect just the plastic trim would applying SILAZANE make sense?

if so, are there any modifications to the steps needed (ie, skip something)?

It is the same process to apply it to the plastic trims. However, the degreaser may cause some plastic resins to whiten, so I suggest you try it on a small section less significant first to see if it will work.
