The April Fool's joke here is that Elon's timeline is actually accurate, and we will see wide release when he stated 😅

He did say probably. Once it hits the Youtubers then we will know it's coming.

I sure hope it’s a big update. My Tesla service center had it in January and said it’s great and a huge step above. I’m waiting with bated breath because right now, the biggest annoying thing about FSD is how it tries to avoid crack sealing (dark black marks on spider cracks). On a highway either a lot of crack sealing, the truck weaves back and forth. The wife said to me “WTF is wrong with this car??” I had to go back to manual mode because we were getting car sick.

Today I just drove 210 miles with 100 of those miles on winding twisting 2 lane roads with 55 mile speed limits most of the way. There were 25 mph segments for hair pins and tight corners that lasted for the short duration of those spots then back up to 55. This was all in beautiful redwood country going to the ocean that I've driven many time but not with FSD as when comming here I used a hitch bike rack on my Model Y's which blocked the rear camera and FSD would not operated with that blockage.

With our new carbon fibre folder ebikes (31 lbs ea) not needing a hitch rack to travel with they were safely stored in the Cybertruck trunk, FSD worked flawlessly and I was Hurry Mode for most of the drive but the Cybertruck never hurried through tight corners with big logging trucks coming over the line of these otherwise empty roads, it was literally jaw dropping how well FSD negotiated these conditions.

There is no way in hell that I (or you) could have made that drive as safe and comfortably as FSD. It was in total control and I was so relaxed I had to stop to get some coffee in me to stay awake. Once properly caffeinated, I could really appreciate how good this technology already is and it will only continue to get better. With my loved ones lives at stake there is no human I would trust as much as current HW 4 FSD. I make that HW 4 caveat only because I haven't driven a HW3 car with FSD in a long time (15 months) and it was no where near the current FSD on HW4.

BTW, I had 33% battery remaining from the 98% I left home which which puts the range above 300 mile mark. I'll drive it around up here for a couple of days then charge to 80% on a Supercharger and get home easy with no in route stops on a 450 mile RT. That's what I'm talking about.

Yeah that's currently a big issue for me too lately. Was a little insane on a stretch of road with it all over for a few miles.

Other than that have a few still repetitive issues. One where it gets in right only turn late instead of left, to make a left turn which is bad. Tried to do that every day still. Also can't use it by construction on or freeway as it literally tries to exit right into dirt on the other side of barrels, also every day.

I mean FSD is nice on the highway, but at this point it feels like a really good cruise control.
I bought it for this, and based on the promise it would be here "soon" hopefully they can really pick up the pace.
Why do you keep saying that? Sure, FSD is good on the freeway, but it's much more than that. It's also very good on complex surface streets. It's main weakness is parking.

I think main weaknesses are phantom braking at night and it will weave around sealed cracks in the road. I also had it swerve around a plastic bag blowing in the wind. For context since FSD tracking became available I use FSD 98% of time.

Overall I think it is amazing. Yesterday a jogger was coming down the sidewalk on driver side when truck was gonna make a left. The jogger decided to run behind the truck rather than in front and as soon as he did that the truck proceeded with the left, making it clear the behavior of the jogger was being monitored with human-like sophistication.

I am not sure I will ever be comfortable sleeping or sitting in back seat while the truck drives. Therefore 14.3 and subsequent builds for people like me are great but it may not change my level of convenience that much.

I'm my truck, the biggest issue is it always hugs the right line. Recalibrated the camera over five times, same thing.

When I said it's main weakness was in lack of excellent parking ability, I was speaking from a functional perspective of an autonomous solution. As long as it's safe to weave around a tar snake or plastic bag, it's less than ideal, but not a functional problem in terms of safely getting from A to B. As a sport-touring motorcycle rider, I've occasionally taken a strange line, left my lane, or braked hard, to increase safety when I wasn't sure what I was seeing (and I was approaching at too high of a speed to wait any longer). Even when I thought it was a low probability that there was any threat to me. I'm not so proud that I care if it looks like I know what I'm doing, I want to stay alive and taking the path that is known to be safe, instead of the one with any level of doubt, is the safest thing to do, even if it looks erratic to someone who can clearly see the potential threat wasn't a threat. And I'm still here. Yes, it can be unsettling to some passengers when FSD avoids non-threats, but it's still in it's infancy and rapidly improving, safety comes before looking competent to people who haven't thought the safety aspect through in a rational manner.

I had one of those two days ago. The Cybertruck had slowed down to 15 mph to enter a roundabout in a residential area and there was a jogger going the same direction on my right, right before I entered the roundabout. At the last minute she glanced over her left shoulder to check for traffic before crossing in front of me. If she continued across the pedestrian crossing I would have immediately hit her. As soon as she glanced left FSD hit the brakes immediately, but not too hard, just enough to bring the Cybertruck from 15 mph to 0 mph in about a second, stopping about 8 feet short of the pedestrian crossing. This all happened in the blink of an eye, she didn't even have to glance left again, she immediately saw that the Cybertruck had braked and continued in front without breaking stride. I couldn't believe the speed of reaction of the Cybertruck (or her ability to smoothly cross in front before the Cybertruck was even to zero mph). It was a stunning display of why FSD is better than even an alert human in most spur-of-the-moment decisions. I got the feeling she (the jogger) was pleasantly surprised how courteous (and aware) a Cybertruck driver was. I'm sure she had no clue it wasn't me who was so alert and courteous. And I am alert and courteous, but I don't think my reaction time is on par with FSD!

I am not sure I will ever be comfortable sleeping or sitting in back seat while the truck drives. Therefore 14.3 and subsequent builds for people like me are great but it may not change my level of convenience that much.
That's probably true, that FSD is already so good that the March of 9's (continuing refinement of edge cases) doesn't add significant convenience factor, at least not until it's so much safer than the average human that you do feel safe not paying attention at all (or summoning your vehicle to pick you up at the airport, etc).

FSD is already good enough that it adds considerably to my convenience factor simply by unloading rote memory driving tasks. I call that convenience because it frees up my faculties for other things and leaves me arriving feeling refreshed and ready to take on whatever is on the agenda, even when I'm just driving around the city streets of my small town.

99% of my FSD driving is using the Cybertruck or my wife's Model 3 Performance, both with Hardware 4. But last week I took my Model 3 Performance with Hardware 3 for a drive and was shocked by how much less capable it was! How quickly we forget how good we have it with the Cybertruck!

My wife calls FSD fantastic as allows the lessening of her daily cognitive load. She's a PhD with practical skills making her very unique in that world of egg heads with no arms.

The same applies to me because I'm busy and as I age, being a good attentive driver becomes more difficult so the bottom line is very busy people and older people get the most out of FSD. We are very grateful it exists ...
