Any important advantages of 2026 CT vs. Foundation Series (should I update)?

Cyber truck foundation series Owner, Vin 29,000 or so. Very few issues other than the accelerator pedal rivets, cantrail replacement, and it’s noisier than heck and they can’t fix that.

was considering trading in for a 2026 cybertruck because they were offering a good trade-in value for my existing cybertruck and FSD transfer (but that was a bit of a scam as you had to pick up the car by end of month March and I’m still waiting for my order to be produced - a bit ticked about that….).

So it’s down to … do I update to a 2026 model so I can get the warranty reset (currently have 20,000 miles). in the pros and cons, I was looking to see if there are any material differences between the foundation series and the current 2026 model. Any differences in battery technology, in avoiding the potential PCS failure (have they even fixed this on the 2026 models?), or other hardware or material improvements that have been done? I’d love for a vehicle that is much quieter, but in a previous post people were not sure whether the more recent models are actually quieter or not.

trying to decide if it’s worth plunking down about $10,000. Any thoughts appreciated, especially whether there are definitely differences and improvements that have been done. Thanks everyone!

what are you talking about? I don't think there is any quieter vehicle than the Cybertruck.
You’re lucky. It’s some type of quality control issue. The cybertruck is literally the noisiest vehicle I’ve ever owned. Most of the noise I experience is wind noise which seems to be bouncing off the windshield, multiple attempts all kinds of window adjustments, foam insulation, etc. to decrease unsuccessful. My wife finds it extremely annoying, and it’s obvious how loud it is. So again, either you’re lucky, or I’m unlucky, or maybe both!

My ‘26 AWD is very quiet. Much better than my ‘20 and ‘23 Model 3s and maybe quieter than my ‘24 S.

PCS is a real concern with the Foundation, if it breaks sub 50k miles Tesla will absorb the cost of repairs, but you may be without your truck at a moments notice for 5 weeks (more in some areas)
If you have lifetime supercharging would keep the Foundation, otherwise might be worth grabbing the 2026 for slight build quality improvement and udpated PCS (which might still also go out, but a bit less likely)

Crash protection in front was updated in mid 2025. I test drove several fs and thought the motors were more audible then other Teslas I had own/driven. I ended up buying an early 2025 instead of an inventory Fs and it’s been quiet in normal conditions. I had something updated with the driver door/mirror to help with high wind noise when I had the cantrails done. I tend to agree if you have free supercharging that is hard to get rid of. Afaik the fs fsd was never transferable because it was an included vehicle feature and not a user purchased option.

I have owned 3 cyberbeasts (still have 2) - vins are 39k (FS), 49k and just got a 2026 90k.

The '26 is more muffled, and no door/mirror rattle that both my others had. The rivet is gone of course lol.

In a blind test you would know the difference. Just seems screwed together a bit tighter in some areas.

Panel gaps are much better on my 26.

Other than those things I dont have any other differences to point out.

If your truck is loud I would add that to your list in favor of upgrade, along with PCS warranty assurance.
Im in a vin 3xxx 2024 FS, has been very reliable and it’s reasonably quiet. The recent Beast loaners I’ve had are even quieter. I did have excessive noise early in my FS… the driver door would thrum and vibrate loudly, fixed under warranty. Now the other doors are developing that issue, as are rear body panels. It’s the epoxy failure, which I could diy fix with the blue adhesive they’re using now. Since your truck is under warranty you could ask them to apply that fix (I think it’s a tsb now?), but I’m at 54k miles and now nervous about PCS.l, so considering an upgrade also.

love my truck, though.

Do what you must…if able?!

My iPhone 17 Air battery last about as long as my old iPhone 13 Pro Max, but no new bells and whistles.

Same old, same old! New and shiny isn’t always better.

For me, answer would be NO. Got that Foundation badge. Someday that might be worth it alone. LOVE my CT.

Sounds like you are seriously unlucky… I’ve had my CT for over 2 years now and that’s one issue I’ve never experienced.

My pcs replacement at the Fife Tesla was a 2 day turn around with shipping the pcs taking the most time.

And I had a CT loaner … wasn’t really that big a deal.

I recently traded in my FS AWD for a new Cyberbeast, it is definitely quieter, much better panel gaps but the biggest difference I noticed is a significantly better charging curve that I am attributing to the switch to both dry electrodes. I got it when they were offering the Lux package so that was the main motivation for me to get lifetime supercharging.

I recently traded in my 2025 AWD for a 2026 Cyberbeast. My AWD had obnoxiously loud drive unit noises in the front that Tesla continually said was within spec. My 2026 Cyberbeast is dead quiet compared to my 2025 AWD. I’m very happy that I made the switch, especially considering the extended warranty that the 2026 comes with now. But I was also able to transfer my FSD so that was a huge benefit for me. If you placed your order before March 31 and your initial delivery window was before March 31, I would push them to still do the transfer. I was told, and have in writing via the app, that’s so long as the initial delivery window was before March 31 they would still honor the transfer. Thankfully, I was able to find one close to me and pick it up before then to avoid any potential problems. But it’s probably worth pressing them for. Mine is at the shop right now getting a fresh wrap and custom painted brake calipers. I’m super excited to get it back this afternoon.
